Has anyone been watching the above series on BBC2 at 7pm three nights a week. OH and I loved it, so relaxing . It was an eye opener as to how hard these farming families work to make a living. Out in all weathers.
I hope we get another series next year, so we can catch up with their life style.

I watched it. Well worth it. I was particularly taken with the crofting couple with the highland cattle. A bluff Yorkshireman and his wife - what lovely people! As they all were; working bloody hard for, in many cases, not much reward except a love of farming in a phenomenally beautiful landscape.

We loved it too and are very much hoping that there will be another series! It certainly underlines how hard they all work for very small rewards and how inherently unfair and slanted is the current system which does not reward the real workers properly.

A friend's DH is unable to retire because the family don't get enough income from their cows to enable them to employ a dairyman in his place so, as she says, he will have to carry on working until he dies. sad It is very hard, the supermarket gives them less per pint of milk than they did 20 years ago and so they have had to absorb all the rising costs just to keep their farm going. One does wonder just how long all this is sustainable to the farmers particularly when not every farm can diversify due to location, size and many other factors. The scenery may be beautiful but that does not pay the bills and you cannot eat it either!

We love this too and are sorry for the farmers who are into milk production and get so little for their milk. I refuse to buy milk in the likes of Lidl or Aldi as they do not pay the farmers well. Tesco at least give a bit more for their milk.

Is it the same programme as This Farming Life? If so, we've watched it, too. My son-in-law farms so I do know how hard farmers work - you have to love it to want to do it, don't you?

We enjoyed it, they all seem to enjoy their hard lives without much moaning. Interesting to see the way they were trying to diversify. The lady with Parkinsons was an inspirational character.
There was a series last year, some different people in that one although the blonde girl with the baby girl was on that one too.

It's a brilliant programme and I hope it continues - I want to see how they all do next year and the next !!!
