Strictly's Back

I've just looked at the Strictly line up and wonder if I don't watch enough TV. Who ARE these 'celebrities'? On the picture grid I recognised 3 faces and one extra with a nudge from my OH. I could name only one off the top of my head, but another one because I'd just read about them in an article about Strictly where they were arguing about whether a gay woman should dance with a woman. (She didn't want to; she said she was there to learn to dance, not to make a point about her sexuality, but felt there was pressure on her from the LBTG group.)

I also enjoyed Susan's dance on Saturday. Her footwork was perfect. She deserved her good marks. I also like the other Scot, Joe McFadden, who has a cheeky Scottish personality - the word, 'pawky' comes to mind. He sank from near the top to near the bottom of the leader board, much to Craig's disappointment!

I agree that Brendan sticks his bum out Teetime and I'm fascinated with it. He dances everything like that.

The new judge Shirley has a soft spot for Simon but he should have gone, even he seemed to expect it. I made a mistake, it wasn't Susan I watched again but Gemma and Alijaz (or however you spell it), he seems lovely and always laughing. It really entertains me, this programme as long as I can whizz through the filmed inserts, completely unnecessary and too predictable. It makes me happy watching it all though, but mainly wishing longingly that I could do that myself!

the problem is the more people repeat the more idiots believe it ...frankly I'm sick of folk who say we're mean .Its insulting and not accurate .

What happened there???

chelseababy Mon 16-Oct-17 13:31:50

At least there's a few repeats for it not being accurate!

I wonder when the professional dancers get time to rehearse their display routines?

Alima Sun 22-Oct-17 08:11:43

Anyone else think that Anton excelled himself last night? Brilliant routine, so camp it was hilarious. I shall try and remember to watch that again when I need a boost!

Humbertbear Sun 22-Oct-17 08:54:51

In answer to AyjayF I read that the professional dancers learn all the routines in the summer before the show proper starts. Then they just have to have minimal rehearsals to bring them back to performance readiness.

For me the highlight last night was Joe McFadden's Paso. It was a brilliantly choreographed routine which took full advantage of his training as an actor. The Flamenco arm movements were perfect - it looked and felt authentically Spanish. Shirley's comments and her 10 were well deserved.

ninathenana Sun 22-Oct-17 09:47:14

Yes, I loved it too anno and thought the arms were really good, even H who half watches under sufference said "now that's what I call a paso"
I wasn't as impressed with Alexandra this week.

Gagagran Sun 22-Oct-17 09:50:42

Absolutely loved Anton in his retro-samba! Very clever to keep the eye on him as Ruth isn't really built for samba! It was a highlight for me. Love Anton when he is doing proper ballroom too - in tails.

merlotgran Sun 22-Oct-17 09:54:03

Anton is so nice. His self-deprecating sense of humour puts his partners at ease.

I gave up on Strictly halfway through last night. Never thought I'd see the day. Just can't be bothered about anyone apart from Brian and Susan. After they'd danced I just turned to another channel. I'm disappointed in myself but also in the BBCs choice of competitors.

AyjayF Sun 22-Oct-17 10:21:25

Susan Calman is Fabulous

TerriBull Sun 22-Oct-17 10:27:41

It's still at the dull stage and far too drawn out. I've decided Aston is my favourite, he's so nimble and light on his feet, a joy to watch so I'm routing for him as overall winner, I suspect it will come down to him and Alexandra in the final although there are a few other potential ones to watch. Joe McFadden was better than anyone else last night, but he hasn't maintained that level throughout.

I like Susan, too. I thought she looked great last night with longer hair in a feminine style.

BBbevan Tue 24-Oct-17 05:57:55

I too think Susan is great. She looks lovely and has such enthusiasm. Obviously loves to dance.

DanniRae Tue 24-Oct-17 08:01:32

Glad Brian has gone he was too full of himself and, apparently, climbed on the judges podium and had a 'mock' rant after he was voted off. It was edited out for Sunday's show. I guess Simon will go next?
