Me too - talking of nightmares I used to have one about being stuck in a dark place and fighting to wriggle out.
They say that kind of a dream is the birth experience - but I don't want to go back to the womb, thankyou!

I used to do it in my teens. Living on the edge of the Peak District we had caves and old mine workings in abundance to explore. Our F E college had a small club and we would go out weekends in the summer - too wet and dangerous in the winter. Some of the things you see created by nature in cave systems are jaw droppingly beautiful. Couldn't do it now - some of the passages were a nightmare and I was as thin as a rake in those days. My mother used to have kittens every time I went. My own DD went a couple of times to Settle with an outdoor activities club she belonged to for a while, and then I knew just how my mother felt. I must say, I haven't seen the programme but I have the utmost admiration for these ladies. It takes stamina, and not a little strength, to negotiate some caves.

Me neither. I know someone who goes caving, the caves are fabulous but she has to wriggle through tunnels etc at low tide to get to them. My idea of panic-stricken hell.
I cannot bring myself to go under the Channel Tunnel.

Same here; I can understand people climbing mountains but the thought of going underground makes me go all shivery. I may try to watch the programme on catchup but may have to stop watching it as it might give me nightmares....

yesterday we watched "The Yorkshire Dales and The Lakes" on channel 4 which featured an item on a group of potholing grannies - the oldest was in her 80s - this is my idea of total hell! There is absolutely no way I could launch myself down a hole in the ground - I`m feeling claustrophobic just thinking about it.

However in true Granny-fashion - they did have tea and cake whilst underground!
