Watched this last night, and I felt the acting by Daniel Mays was superb in a difficult role. I cant believe how people were treated only 50 years ago for something that they had no control over. I have never really thought about how being gay affected people's lives but seeing this made me feel sorry for them and how they were treated back then, in my life time too which made it seem unbelieveable. A prison sentence all because of your sexuality!!!!

Thanks for reminding me about this, did want to see it. My uncle was gay, for years he and his partner lived in Tangiers and only came home on flying visits. He was a brilliant uncle and it is such a shame we didn't see more of them. It wasn't until he died and my sister mentioned the reason they lived overseas was because of the law here that I twigged. They moved back after the law changed and lived out their lives together here.

We watched this. Very good and very enlightening.

So sad for all those people who lived their lives in fear or had thier lives ruined because they had a criminal record. Makes me feel so angry on thier behalf. Thought it was very well acted and some of memories from the men who took part in the documentary bought tears to my eyes.

I am surprised that Tangiers was a better place for gays. I thought the Muslin attitude to them was even stricter.

I felt so ashamed that this occured during my lifetime its something I have never thought of before in great depth, the way the men where treated was horrific specially the treatment offered by the so called establishment of the time. All those men who kept things underwraps for fear of their families finding out and living in misery, there didn't seem to be any mention of the problems involving ladies though I wonder why this was.One of the gentlemen interviewed is a well known radio presenter and celebrity here on Merseyside and my heart went out to him.
