Mackenzie Crook (of The Office fame) wrote and stars in this with Toby Jones. It’s a gentle comedy with an unusual theme of metal detector nerds. They are showing old ones at the moment and we never caught it the first time round but are watching now. It took a bit of getting into but we love it now. They are filming a new series this summer for showing in the winter.

Example from last night. Toby’s character Lance is in a restaurant with an on-line date. He told his best mate Mackenzie’s character Andy, that he has important business and on being questioned, says he has to go to Screwfix. Later that day Andy spots him in the restaurant with the girl and rings him up. Andy asked where he is and he says Screwfix. Andy says he can hear Mexican music. Quick as a flash, Lance says yes Screwfix are having a Mexican themed afternoon. We were in fits.

I loved it when it was on.

Me too; I even gave the dvd to my SIL/DD at Christmas, although I doubt if they ever bothered to watch it. Mackenzie Crook's girlfriend in the series was in a film I saw recently and I spent the whole film trying to work out what I'd seen her in before [in the end I had to google it].I went to the Edinburgh Museum a couple of weeks ago and there's a Viking Age hoard on display there, so I kept thinking of the detectorist who had found it.How amazing that must have been!

I loved it when out was on and have watched it again. Very gentle, unassuming comedy. Toby Jones is great. No surprises and no sex or violence.

This was so good. If you haven't seen it before there's series 2 to look forward to.
