I caught this show on iPlayer, it is BBC Scotland and it is just lovely. A love letter to Glasgow and Scottish art and of course a tribute to Billy Connolly.

It is about the three large scale artworks of him that are now on display in the city.

It made me quite emotional...

Coincidentally I'm watching it right now on catch up ( and browsing the internet at the same time). I'm really loving it and can't wait to see how Jack Vettriano's portrayal turns out.I'm a real fan of his work. A bit iffy about the modernist female artist.... think that style is beyond me. And hats off to Billy for not letting PD diminish his spirit.

good wee programme ,hasn't he done well for himself? I met him over 40 years ago at parties in Glasgow and he lived near me when I was newly married .Always friendly but you never knew if he was taking notes for his next show...lolThe portraits are all good I like the modernist one best ,the Vettriano least and the emotion shown in the third was great really brought a tear to the eye .The best bit for me was the reaction he got from the people of Glasgow who sometimes like to put you on a pedestal so they can knock you down, his "refined" accent and his royal connections in particular weren't well received for quite some time.We always loved his stories though and they were all based on truth .Sad to see him looking so old and frail

I saw the Vettriano portrait on another programme (One Show ?) I wasn't impressed. Odd choice of pose which I believe was copied from an old photo and no likeness to Billy.
I will have to see the programme on catch up. H and I have seen Billy live a few times.
