I think he was a gatherer of women , he had tried to save his sister as a child but had failed that was the wee ghosty girl who came to him in the end . Paula was trying out the drug on herself to then use on him . Yes , it was grisly .

Wish I'd read the posts here before choosing to watch it or not! Too many odd things like boy and dog, wont spoil it for anyone else but too much horror, mystery not solved and too dark to not reach a satisfactory conclusion. Won't waste my time if they do another episode. Too dark.

I couldn't make head or tail of it either; I'm sick of dark dramas full of dysfunctional characters.

BlueBelle Sat 10-Jun-17 18:15:14

At least all but one of us didn't make head nor tale of it Can you answer all my questions in my last post tiredoldwoman and put us all out of our misery ?

tiredoldwoman Sat 10-Jun-17 18:10:38

But yes, Bluebelle , where did that dog come from ? I thought maybe I'd hidden myself under the duvet and missed that bit ? A dog in a bag ?

tiredoldwoman Sat 10-Jun-17 18:08:47

Well , I really liked it , if that's the right word . I nearly had to switch it off when I realised what she was doing to him . I felt so sad , crimes of the father an' all that ?

I've just watched the last episode. I didn't look here before as didn't want any spoilers. If I had I probably wouldn't of bothered !
I agree with all your points Bluebelle I assumed he took the photo because he recognised it as his sister (deducted from the last episode) regarding the language, I was swearing at the TV because I couldn't see a damn thing half the time.

harrigran Sat 10-Jun-17 10:01:20

I watched Paula in one sitting. Fragmented, dark, mumbled and way too much swearing for me. If this had been a book I would have discarded it after a chapter ot two.

Teetime Sat 10-Jun-17 09:51:42

I had no idea what was going on.

BlueBelle Sat 10-Jun-17 06:34:58

Well I have to agree with you all I thought it showed promise but it turned into a nonsense that I had trouble putting together it was a fractured story with bits of unrelated visions that I wasn't sure was real or imagined
What was the point of the beat up boy outside and the dog? Why did james take her photo out the basement ? who the hell has the equipment ready to entomb somebody complete with nose tube and waste pipe ? Why was she injecting herself no storyline around her being a drug addict? Why would a police officer be chasing dangerous criminals with no back up ? Why did the little girl have her mouth sewn up? Who were the two woman living with James was it two lovers or a wife and lover, didn't they know about each other?
Perhaps it was too sophisticated for me but I found it muddled and wondered what sort of mind the author had?

Will go one further and say it was absolute nonsense, ran out of patience during second episode, dark mumbled nobody had any lights on every other word was fu-- .Not what I call entertainment.

Marelli Fri 09-Jun-17 18:47:56

Kateycrunch, thanks for that! I couldn't understand the discovery and the keeping of the photos by the chap. It would seem that he felt the need to imprison (as he had been as a child - but then, his sister couldn't have died as a child..... ? .....) oh, I don't know, either!

morethan2 Fri 09-Jun-17 18:35:25

I'm afraid I felt the same as travelsafar and Kateykrunch I did think the acting was very good. However I had no idea what was going on. Nothing seemed to tie together. Big disappointment.

Kateykrunch Fri 09-Jun-17 16:58:13

SPOILER ALERT.....DONT READ IF YOU HAVN'T WATCHED ALL THREE EPISODES! (Although I could save you the time ). It was a gripping drama with no flipping end, as I end up saying after giving hours to watching something enthralling for it to fizzle out...."WHAT A LOAD OF BO***CKS", very poor! I thought she may be the missing sister and that he was sent away after the strangling story, but no substance to the story at all at the end.

travelsafar Fri 09-Jun-17 16:33:49

i watched this an dam still not sure what was happening. Mumbled dialogue with an Irish accent made it difficult to folow and i am still not really sure what happend tothe little girl and why Paula did what she did at the end.
It was actually quite a horrible story!!!

BlueBelle Wed 31-May-17 21:07:39

I ve just watched Paula on my iPad think it might be a good drama a bit dark in all senses but worth seeing where it's going
