I've really enjoyed these two series bur Peter Kay has said that he will not be doing another one. I can understand in a way because it's better to leave on a high - but it would have been nice to have some sort of resolution of the "romance" between Kayleigh and John - although I suppose it was hinted at.

We loved the chemistry between them. I think this series was running out of steam though.

Greyduster Wed 03-May-17 11:31:46

I loved the last series but this one is failing to grab me so far. Hope it picks up.

LadyGracie Wed 03-May-17 11:37:10

That was it Greyduster, it's finished. This short series was a bit of a disappointment I wish they'd got together in the end! Not in his daydream!

POGS Wed 03-May-17 12:06:02

Oh!

I didn't realise episode 4 was THE END.

Flipping heck what a way to finish, poor Kayleigh.

Can't believe I feel so sad over a t.v show confused. grin

I've been humming the Marillion song all morning.
Will "quiche in the fridge" take over from "garlic bread" as a catchphrase?

hildajenniJ Wed 03-May-17 14:03:44

Nooo! Not even a Christmas special. I so wanted them to get together. Poor Kayleigh, poor John. ?

Maybe it's just me then. I like Peter Kay, but I didn't find this remotely funny or entertaining.

Ana Wed 03-May-17 15:10:48

Series 1 was terrific, but this one's been disappointing and last night...well, can someone tell me where Peter Kay's daydream began?

Please tell me that he actually had requested the Marillion song on the radio for Kayleigh, who of course missed it? sad

Tizliz Wed 03-May-17 18:33:22

I am another one who did not find this funny at all

Eloethan Wed 03-May-17 18:51:06

I think it had a quirky, gentle - and sometimes a bit rude - sort of humour and I loved both the characters, but I epsecially liked John. I loved that bit in series one when he was sitting at the traffic lights singing his socks off to the radio when he caught the bloke opposite staring at him and smirking. I guess a lot of people could relate to the special sort of embarrassment that the British feel when they are caught out spontaneously enjoying themselves.

I never watched Phoenix Nights when it was shown and saw a bit of it a few weeks ago - I think on some sort of tribute to Peter Kay. It wasn't really my cup of tea - but Car Share was funny and touching. Even the inane banter and adverts on the commercial radio station were a joy.

I was really upset sad when John 'blew it'.The last episode was so well written(PK at his best IMO)full of wry humour, and concealed angst from John. There were times when I wanted to shake him and say 'Ditch your emotional armour-plating and let Kayleigh know how you feel about her, you eejit!' Aargh!
My least favourite episode of Series 2 was the office do, the Smurf really disturbed me (I frighten easily!)but episode 3 with the marauding monkeys had me laughing out loud ... on my own, which is quite disturbing on it's own sad

Coolgran65 Wed 03-May-17 19:18:30

I was gutted at the end of last night's episode - and then heard there would be no series 3. Such disappointment.
But yes, perhaps best to stop while on a high.

Normally when watching tv I'm also doing a suduko or a crossword - not for Car Share. Everything was set down and it got my full attention. DH and I had many laugh out loud moments throughout both series. Such simple humour with poignant moments.

Thank you Peter Kay.

Both series seemed pitched just right. Beautifully observed, gently funny rather than laugh out loud, and just the right length at half an hour.

Beammeupscottie Wed 03-May-17 21:12:26

I feel in my waters that they will do a Christmas Special.

DanniRae Wed 03-May-17 21:49:18

Oh how I loved Car Share - except episode two with the weird Smurf. Last night's episode was so bitter sweet. I really felt for Kayleigh when John wouldn't talk about his feelings for her. I have decided that when he thinks through their last conversation in the car - before she decided that enough was enough - he will decide to tell her that he loves her too and they will live happily ever after......... smile

Ana Wed 03-May-17 22:08:14

Peter Kay has ruled out a Christmas Special, sadly.

rosesarered Wed 03-May-17 23:09:44

Am just watching it now and laughing.grin

Never cracked a smile at the assure epusode. Last nights episode, if it is the last, disappointing.
