I watched to re run of the last two episodes of Line of Duty on playback just to refresh myself as the new series starts this Sunday. Oh my God!!! it was riverting I had forgotten how much, I found myself shouting for Kate to 'be careful' when she was chasing Cotton in the final scenes, cant wait for the new series now. Anyone else watched the re runs??

Yes, absolutely brillliant. So often the last episode of a series is a disappointment but this had plenty to it.

mcem Sun 30-Apr-17 22:21:48

Excellent! From the start of the Lakewell /Huntley interview to the closing credits it was cracking tele!
Well done GN and I nominate gettingonabit as best sleuth.

2 points.
Not sure about Maneet's involvement.
Should we worry about Hastings' comments and sideways looks at the scene of Hilton's 'suicide'??????

POGS Sun 30-Apr-17 22:19:57

That was a brilliant series all round.

When she turned on the solicitor friend after making her confession was a corker.

The way it was left to make you wonder if 'H ' could be Hastings (AC 12 Superintendent) was a cliff hanger.

New series ASAP please.

An explanation of the photo board in AC12 office and fodder for the next series

What a cracking final episode and what a relief to know another series is to be made. I e joyed Ted referring to zjamie as Jimmy. Kate, Steve and Ted are a great team.

Brilliant TV. Looking forward to the next series.

I thought that too, MawBrown - nothing we hadn't suspected already, but well done.

Christinefrance Sun 30-Apr-17 22:04:37

Yes a good ending with clues of more to come. I really enjoyed it.

MawBroon Sun 30-Apr-17 22:02:52

Too neat and tidy?
A good result all round but big hints that there is still a network of vice and corruption within the police.
Great series!!!

J52 Sun 30-Apr-17 22:02:18

Yes great. As I suspected on 24 April 11 am post!
I love a mystery! Can't wait for the next series, more to be exposed.

Pittcity Sun 30-Apr-17 22:00:55

How good was that?
GN guessed a lot of it!

The fifth series of LOD has been commissioned for next year, apologies if this has been said already. A new series of Shetland is being filmed as well, Douglas Henshall is quite moreish.

Yes, S4C has English subtitles. The Police Station may well have bern the Library once. It's that kind of building. And Aberystwyth has the National Library - although I doubt the locals head there for their weekly fix of Agatha Christie!

Aberystwyth has changed quite a bit since I was there. Still a nice town, if a bit far from everywhere.

What bugs me even more is that the subtitling seems to be only available in English, not Welsh (maybe that's just my telly, though. ).

I hope there's more Hinterland but I think that's it now. sad.

Welshwife Thu 27-Apr-17 08:11:40

Presumably it is in Welsh with subtitles on S4C - mainly English on BBC1Wales.. There are a few good things made in Wales which are not shown nationwide - I can never u derstand why.

I read in an article about the locations that the Police Station was the library - they probably have a newer bigger police building now. Good ending - I wondered if it was the end of the line and he will return to the Met!

gettingonabit Thu 27-Apr-17 08:05:49

welshwife when I was a student in Aber the Police Station WAS the Police Station!

What's good about Hinterland is that it does use real places, which gives it a real sense of place, unlike some programmes such as Broadchurch which is a mishmash of locations. The Hinterland geography pans out in real life and makes perfect sense.

I still don't get why it isn't available on mainstream telly for everyone though! Last night it was on Bbc Wales, despite having already been on S4C, but something else was on in England! Most people in Wales who wanted to see it have already seen it on S4C as Y Gwyll. Doesn't make sense to me!

There's another thriller -35 Diwrnod-which I haven't seen all of and can't find anywhere. Grrr..

Welshwife Wed 26-Apr-17 22:20:13

Each series of Hinterland was made in both English - with the odd bit of Welsh - and totally Welsh for S4C. I have seen all of them - the early ones give a bit more background to Matthias. The series is recorded scene by scene first in one language and then the other so takes ages. I would think it would be on Netflix or something if not DVD. I think the acting is good and love the scenery. The outside of the Police Station is the old Library in Aberystwyth.
I was watching one series when there was the huge storm that ripped up the esplade there - the contrast between the film one night and the news the next day was vast!

tanith some of LOD is on youtube.

tanith Wed 26-Apr-17 21:55:16

Will I have to buy previous Line Of Duty series we don't have sky or netflix

Liaise Wed 26-Apr-17 21:50:22

I didn't realise Hinterland was on again and am now down loading it from the IPlayer. Is there anything else interesting? We had to give up on some of the more gory scandi noir series. I hope there is another series of the "Outlaws". The five Belgian sisters who were trying to murder the husband of one of them.

Ilovecheese Wed 26-Apr-17 19:46:14

gettingonabit thanks for that

gettingonabit Wed 26-Apr-17 16:58:04

ilove Hinterland is on iplayer (or should be). I doubt there'll be a DVD.

Actually, previous episodes may be on youtube. Worth a look anyway. In Welsh it's Y Gwyll. Same thing, but all in Welsh (with subtitles).

Ilovecheese Wed 26-Apr-17 13:35:02

Welshwife I think it is just Wales. is it good? Would it be worth me getting a dvd?

Welshwife Wed 26-Apr-17 12:56:52

Do any of you watch 'Hinterland' (BBC1 tonight). I am not sure if it isNational or just BBC Wales. Bit dark and brooding sort of main character. Set around Aberystwyth - I find it sort of'normal' for Wales in that some of the characters lapse into speaking Welsh to each other from time to time (subtitled for that bit). Last part tonight - some dark secret being revealed - suspect it could be Paedophilia within the force.

merlotgran Wed 26-Apr-17 12:41:57

Sunday night has a lot to look forward to. The Durrells, which is now ridiculous but I still love it, the last episode of Line of Duty and Grantchester on +1.

That's a lot of popcorn.

Lazigirl Wed 26-Apr-17 12:16:20

I'm getting the popcorn in!
