I watched to re run of the last two episodes of Line of Duty on playback just to refresh myself as the new series starts this Sunday. Oh my God!!! it was riverting I had forgotten how much, I found myself shouting for Kate to 'be careful' when she was chasing Cotton in the final scenes, cant wait for the new series now. Anyone else watched the re runs??

Thank you Welshwife, I think I know what you mean, I was kind of partially awake during the previous series, although not wholly, which is why I need to catch up with them. Although I do remember the climax and tension towards the end of the last one where the Lyndsay Denton character is shot in the head by a fellow officer, I think? Possibly I like this current series so much, because whilst others have criticised it for being far fetched, which I can see it is, I think I find it's implausability makes it thrilling.

Welshwife Mon 10-Apr-17 12:13:29

Terri you need to watch in order as it is one continuous story till you get to this series - which does carry on but is a new story altogether except for the relationship with the main team.

Thanks gettingonabit, I'll do my best, I think the previous one is available on Iplayer. I know I really should watch them in the right order to appreciate the dynamics of the relationships within the force, but I'll get my husband to up date me.

terribull you MUST watch all three previous series! You've got it all to comeenvy.

trisher Mon 10-Apr-17 10:22:29

Oh it's so watchable, if far fetched. So hubby was outside the flat when she killed Tim. Is he balaclava man as well? Who is Jimmy? And oh will her hand drop off or will she get septicaemia? Can't wait for next week!

Welshwife Mon 10-Apr-17 09:32:20

It was the pregnant policewoman who knew where he was going and the boss man. The new fellow could have known too I suppose but not had time to get there himself. Why didn't he use the lift?

gettingonabit Mon 10-Apr-17 09:01:23

I think Steve's killer (I don't think it's Ingleby) is connected to the new DC. Who else would know Steve was on his way? Apart from Ted, that is? not Ted, please don't let Ted be corrupt

I'm new to Line of Duty, my husband watched all the previous ones and said they were excellent, I don't know why they didn't engage me, possibly I was asleep, I do drift off at 9ish sometimes sad I'm loving this one, really exciting, another shocker of an ending. It's good to see Thandie on tv she's a very good actress. On the back of this I'm going to try and see if I can catch up with the previous series, I know Keeley Hawes' performance was acclaimed and I like her too.

PRINTMISS Mon 10-Apr-17 08:16:47

I thought that Thandie had borrowed her husband's car to go to Tim's, not sure where I got that from, probably not right, and I still do not understand why there was a black balaclava in her handbag. I think there is a very good likeness between her husband and Farmer, so he might well have been guilty of the attacks, but not the killing of Tim. Oh! I don't know, it is good and I am just going with the flow until the end, and like Christine I hope it does not all end in a farce, it has been too good for that.

Christinefrance Mon 10-Apr-17 07:59:33

Didn't see that coming although as Eloethan said there have been some hints in the press.
Jodie is creepy in her devotion to Thandie N, not sure if its career related or more serious.
This has been good so far I do hope they don't spoil it with a far fetched ending.

Leticia Mon 10-Apr-17 07:18:11

A great series- it certainly keeps you guessing!

Welshwife Mon 10-Apr-17 06:58:32

Did anyone else besides the solicitor husband know Steve was going to that office? The young policewoman and the boss back at base but I cannot think of anyone else. Bit of a surprise that ending.

Ilovecheese Mon 10-Apr-17 00:55:00

Surely it can't really be my darling Lee Ingleby

Eloethan Mon 10-Apr-17 00:34:47

I saw an interview with the actor who plays Steve Arnott (I assume SA is dead?) and there was a hint that a character/s might not see it through to the end of the series because apparently Jed Mecurio likes to break conventions.

I have to admit, despite previous misgivings, I'm enjoying it.

Maggiemaybe I'm having a really bad feeling about young Jodie, she is making the hairs on the back of my neck stand up, I'm not sure if its just that she is too earnest/keen or if she is seriously involved in some aspect of the murders, maybe trying to cover up for her hero boss whom she suspects of being corrupt.
It did seem a bit far fetched that 'Balaclava man' wasn't seen doing the deed/strolling around in a Balaclava.

gettingonabit Sun 09-Apr-17 22:30:05

Jimmy Lakeland? Yeah. Got to be an alias?

gettingonabit Sun 09-Apr-17 22:28:05

Noooo...hang on.....second thoughts..I don't think man in balaclava was Thandie's husband. He looked too slight.

PS: why are we only seeing balaclava man from above-it's impossible to tell his body shape/dimensions that way (according to Ifield, at least).

Iam64 Sun 09-Apr-17 22:14:00

I suspected her husband and her covering up for him by framing the young man. I didn't remember seeing him follow her to the forensic man's flat but someone else on here mentioned it. I didn't expect him to attack Steve. Will he survive and isn't the Thandie DCI wicked !

gulligranny Sun 09-Apr-17 22:12:45

Bloomin' heck! Didn't see that coming .... although, come to think of it, right at the beginning I think there was something to make us suspicious of the husband. Was it that he wasn't at home when he should have been?

Maggiemaybe Sun 09-Apr-17 22:12:42

Poor old Steve - that was a shocker!

I'm feeling very motherly towards officer Jodie. Looks about twelve, very earnest, hardworking and honest. I doubt she'll last the series out. ?

gettingonabit Sun 09-Apr-17 22:12:37

I knew it! TN's hubby is dodgy!

Poor Steve. I kind of guessed he'd be a goner, though. Never made DI..shame.

So...Hana was a prostitute, as many of us guessed. I don't think she's involved in Ifield's death, though. Thandie is desperate to pin the murder on her, isn't she?

Halfway thru now!

Pittcity Sun 09-Apr-17 22:04:28

I am shocked and confused. All my previous theories are in tatters.

The new young AC12 DC , Jamie, is nice though.

BlueBelle Sun 09-Apr-17 22:03:13

Bit not but

BlueBelle Sun 09-Apr-17 22:02:39

Oh dear even more far fetched tonight, well the ending anyway, what's the chances of both husband and wife ..........nah but unrealistic there

Auntieflo Sun 09-Apr-17 22:02:11

Oh dear
