Yes we moan about them and use the break to put the kettle on/go to the loo/check what is on the other channels, but some are worth watching in their own right aren't they?
Do you have a favourite? Would it make you buy the product?
This is one which made me smile.

I love the Irn Bru ads. Would never buy the toxic stuff though!

There was a period ( the 80's or 90's) when there were some good ads, particularly the Guinness ads, remember the white horses waves? I can't say there are any ads that I like at the moment, or ones which make me smile.

I never watch adverts on television but have seen the Irn Bru ones on youtube, they are hilarious. I would never purchase a product seen in an advert, I do not like to be manipulated.

Wake up to milk was, and still is one of my favourites. It always made me smile. There is still a milkman who delivers around here, but he has plastic bottles these days.

No need to be too "po-faced " about TV ads though is there?
They have rarely, if ever induced me to part with my money
I frequently can't even remember what the product was
Sometimes they are more entertaining than the TV programmes they punctuate.
We are all responsible grown-up people (well, I expect you all are) and good advertising can be an art form in itself.

I like the Pet Plan ad, with all the cats & dogs busily running around. The music gives me an 'ear worm' though!

I find some ads are so "arty" that it is not until the end that I know what they are advertising by which time I couldn't care less!

I think that the Aldi ads are very funny , particularly the one with the lady who's husband liked tea but she prefers gin! The ads that catch my attention are usually the ones that make me laugh.

Mostly I don't see the ads as DH likes to record anything with them and then fast-forward. However, yesterday I did happen upon one for Haribo sweets, in which all the adults' voices were replaced by children's - made me laugh out loud, and I've remembered the product!

I enjoy all the "should have gone to Specsavers" adds. Especially the vet who mistakes a furry hat for an ill cat grin

I quite like the Dogs' Trust one where the dog has a little figure of his potential new owner and the new owner comes to get him. Always brings a tear to the eye.....sad.

willsmadnan Fri 10-Feb-17 16:33:11

Yes, the Dogs' Trust one has me sniffling, combined with the song (which for the life of me I can't remember nowconfused) it's guaranteed to pull at the heartstrings. Also the Spec Savers ... especially the elderly couple who mistake the roller coaster for a bench on which to eat their sandwiches.

I like ads with animals in, particularly Sykes. The best one is where he is in kennels and a couple are looking at the dogs for sale. Sykes has a TV screen in his kennel and a remote control. He presses the remote and a film comes up on the TV showing Sykes doing various jobs. The expression on his face is priceless. Sykes is the dog that appears in 'Midsomer Murders'.

Christinefrance Wed 22-Feb-17 12:56:54

Seems a lot of people like the ads featuring dogs. Sykes has retired now and has been replaced with another rescue JR who is equally gorgeous.
I loved the ad which was for advertising, and had the dog with his friend, the owner was going to put the friend in the bin ( a toy )
The early Aldi ads were funny I thought the later ones not so good.

Hilda the milk one was always my favourite too.
Currently I like the Flash one with the dog who is wondering where all the mud has gone.
Most adverts however have me rushing for the mute button.
