Lion

Hi again, after seeing this film (Lion), I googled to read a bit more about the events on which it is based, and came across this free version of Saroo's book online. Posting the link here in case anyone else is interested:

Thanks terribull I've just read your post, and realise now there were no spoilers. I sometimes don't even read reviews if I really want to see a film, so as to not be influenced at all.

f77 I caught the film you mention with Dev Patel as a maths wizard, it was great. He is a terrific actor, all grown up now, as you say.

Best movie I've seen for ages. I liked the fact that it was true. It was very moving, and beautifully acted. Recommended!

Saw 'Lion' this afternoon. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Great story .

It sounds right up my street , La la land -not so much . I watched a beautiful film the other day called `The man who knew infinity ` also about a poor Indian boy who was a self taught maths prodigy . Also Dev Patel ! I can thoroughly recommend it if you want an uplifting but also heart rending film . A true story too . ( It is on SKY movies atm)

I read the book straight through and passed it to a friend who lived in India and whose father worked for Indian railways. She couldn't put it down either. I couldn't get over the resilience of that little lost boy but my friend pointed out that Indian railway stations have many young children trying to scrape a living. What a world we live in.

I overlooked this thread and posted my 'Lion' comment on La La Land.

I saw 'Lion' last night in a group of 2 couples and we all thought it a powerful, moving story. I thought it was a bit strung out towards the end but it did not detract from the overall quality of the film.

I saw 'Lion' in the smallest cinema of a complex where it was poorly attended so if people want to see it, maybe go sooner rather than later.

Grannyknot not really any spoilers, just the bare bones of the storyline which is in most of the reviews, but not how it concludes.

Dev Patel has turned into a very handsome young man inspite of resisting expensive dental work to give him a ubiquitous Hollywood smile. Good for him. I don't think I've seen him anything since he was a rather gangly youth in Slumdog Millionaire.

I want to see this but am shielding eyes from your post because I don't want to read any potential spoilers!

I love Dev Patel.
