I was very sad to read that the BBC is axing Midweek hosted by Libby Purves after 35 years on air. I suppose it was bound to happen to an excellent varied programme that was described by some as 'too genteel'. It is to be replaced by a presenter free arts interview series. Whenever I really enjoy a programme I know that is the kiss of death. I suppose I could continue listening to the archive editions unless they get rid of those too.
