If you are watching Missing what do you think of it . it's complicated isn't it? stories within stories and changing countries and changing years I m really having to keep on my toes to follow it I am enjoying it though One criticism is I wish the wife and girlfriend looked less alike I have to keep translate which is which it is getting better now I m more familiar with the story line but the first couple of episodes foxed me

Yes, they were different actors.

What's Mark Rylance got to do with anything? Did he sneak in from Wolf Hall while I wasn't looking? grin.

Welshwife Thu 24-Nov-16 19:49:04

By the way I thought they were three different actors playing the soldiers in Aghanistan in 1991.

Didn't Baptiste and Keeley Hawes find the locked cellar door under the mat by the kitchen door last night?

BlueBelle Thu 24-Nov-16 19:37:16

Maybe Lucy has been brought up with both mothers and calls them both Mummy
I keep thinking I blinked when some things are mentioned on here
I hope Julian lives to see his results

Jalima Thu 24-Nov-16 19:35:02

I think Mark Rylance (English) is quite a bit older than Derek Riddell (Scottish)

Jalima Thu 24-Nov-16 19:32:01

We don't know who is her mother, or do we?
Mummy and Lucy were together in the bedroom in his house and he then took Mummy to Switzerland and kept Lucy.
I think Alice may have been in another locked bedroom in the house at the same time.

I thought it was a cupboard in the corner of the room in the hut, not a cellar, she sort of came out from the depths of it.

The cellar was under his garage at his house in Germany (how did he dig that out?).

Too many questions.

NotTooOld Thu 24-Nov-16 19:26:08

I still think the perp is either Mark Rylance or his twin brother.

Yes, that Alice/Sophie definitely needs some lip balm.

Why did Lucy call Alice/Sophie 'mummy' when she arrived at the hut in the forest when surely the Sophie/Alice who crawled out of the cellar is her mother? And would a hut in the woods have a cellar anyway?

gretel Thu 24-Nov-16 19:24:58

Rinouchka, Derek Riddell who plays Gettrick is 49. He looks young for 49.

Jalima Thu 24-Nov-16 17:12:38

I think that was a previous series (which I didn't see).

Lillie Thu 24-Nov-16 17:11:46

But where was Sophie kidnapped from? I thought she lived in Paris??

Jalima Thu 24-Nov-16 17:02:57

Sophie is French Welshwife but Sophie's mother was English, hence she speaks fluent English.

Jalima Thu 24-Nov-16 17:01:15

We didn't meet Lena but the nice policeman looked it up on the computer and mentioned her to someone - can't remember who now, I am getting lost!

Ah, it was the policeman's car Greyduster! Thanks. I must have blinked.

nanasam yes, I think you're on the right track
But I could be wrong grin

Maggiemaybe Thu 24-Nov-16 16:54:15

No, I've no memory of Lena so obviously had a little zzzz at the relevant time, thank you all for the explanation! And I'm sorry I dissed the creepy monkey, Alima, I'm sure yours was very sweet.

Rinouchka Thu 24-Nov-16 16:53:08

Too contrived for me, even though I look forward to the last episode.

Has anyone noticed that Adam Gettrick, the baddie, has not aged much since 1991 whereas the other two men have ( Henry Reed is dead and Stone has dementia). Perhaps rapimg young girls is his elixir of youth in a vampirish way!!

nanasam Thu 24-Nov-16 16:08:55

I reckon its defo Sophie who came back as Alice - Baptiste recognised her screwing her hands up when she was nervous and she disappeared after he called her Sophie. Alice is the one taken in the boot to the hut in the forest and locked up with her new monkey toy. The one in the shed was Lena, the third girl on the rollercoaster who had Alice's necklace on (which was also found in the burned out shed). I reckon either a) Gettrick tampered with the DNA results or b) Lena was Sam's daughter by way of an extra marital bonk.
Ta Da! Bet all my theories are wrong - roll on next Wednesday when all will become clear (as mud, I expect)

Greyduster Thu 24-Nov-16 14:56:52

I also thought the body was in the policeman's car in the car park. I am very surprised that no-one has discovered it yet - (don't bodies tend to niff when they decompose?). Or could it be that the body is in the cellar and he just had to get rid of the policeman's car and all the blood soaked clothing and stuff is in the boot. ?

gretel Thu 24-Nov-16 14:35:57

Gettrick told Alice's parents that the DNA from the burned body matched Sam's DNA. He either made it up or somehow interfered with samples.

Jalima Thu 24-Nov-16 14:32:25

Welshwife I must have missed that bit.
So is this another car, or was Alice stuffed into the boot with a dead body on the journey to Switzerland?

merlotgran Thu 24-Nov-16 14:29:41

I think it's Lena's burned body in the cemetery and Sam is beginning to twig, hence the visit to the grave.

He's obviously keen to get back to UK before the shit hits the fan fact that he's her father comes to light.

I could be way off beam though.

Welshwife Thu 24-Nov-16 13:27:34

I thought that drill man put the policeman's body in the boot if his car and drove it to a multi-storey car park and just parked it. He had used the policeman's phone to ring in and say he would not be in for a few days.

Assume Sophie is French then?

Jalima Thu 24-Nov-16 13:18:38

Lena is a missing German girl, her mother thought she had run away.
Nice policeman was on to that before drill man finished him off because drill man knew the family apparently.
Another twist?
(Is he in the cellar under the garage).

Gemma has hinted that Sam had been unfaithful before so perhaps Lena was the result of that affair.
So the DNA of the girl in the shed would match his.
If there was any DNA at all - drill man could have invented that or falsified the records.

And does Eve know more than she is letting on?

gillybob Thu 24-Nov-16 12:27:48

So either the DNA record was tampered with or Sam did father one of the other girls or double bluff was the girl in the shed really their daughter (although I very much doubt it).

I just wish someone would give the girl playing Alice/Sophie/Lena/Fannyanntoosh
some lip-balm !

Welshwife Thu 24-Nov-16 12:23:32

I know the third girl is shown in the photo taken on the fairground ride but has she been shown anywhere else?
I know that Baptiste noticed that Alice and Sophie looked similar but is the third girl supposed to be interchangeable too?
I think that the third girl must have been the burnt body but how the DNA seemed to match is a mystery - or was 'drill man' able in some way to alter the report? Would he have had access being a liaison officer?

Alima Thu 24-Nov-16 11:44:52

I used to have a juggling monkey and it wasn't at all frightening Mm. Suppose I was a couple of years older than Lucy is depicted though.

gillybob Thu 24-Nov-16 11:34:11

Or is the third girl???
