I knew she didn't sound quite like Bulgarians I have known, but it wasn't that many, so I thought it might just be a bit different! And they went to a lot of trouble to make sure that Nick sounded East Midlands!
Blimey, have we fallen out of love with the Archers I'm afraid i have. My problem is the 'Lexi' character. She plays the part of a lady from Bulgaria. I lived in BG for 5 years and she no more speaks with a BG accent than I do! She is speaking with a Russian accent. I had Russian neighbors and socialised a lot with them. The Russian accent is very hard, where as the BG one is soft. I'm very disappointed in the Archers team. They go to so much trouble to be authentic yet in this they have failed miserably.
Adam is 50, not sure of Ian 's age, it's not on the website. I think that the meeting and subsequent discussions with social workers will expose their different attitudes, and may well exacerbate the cracks in the marriage.
It's very likely to be an older, somewhat damaged child, I can see Ian embracing the issues with his usual warmth, and Adam, himself rather damaged, not being able to cope.
Well, someone needs to adopt or foster. It's on the government's 'Must Push' list along with blood doning - and, I hear this morning, the Dutch Reach method (of opening a car door!)
I didn't think he'd sold it, just put it in trust. Lilian will get the cash when the trust sells to Justin. He'll pay over the odds as he's desperate to live with L in the dahas.
On the subject of accents - I was half listening and had to relisten to part of Lilian's chat with Justin about the dahas. Wondering what she was on about I worked out that she was referring to the dower house. Matt subsequently called it the daar haas. Do we all speak the same language? Dow er how ss!
Did anyone hear 'Justin Elliot ' on radio 4 this morning? He said he was currently engaged to Lilian. Do you think they will actually marry? It sounded as though they might not.
