What a load of tosh.

POSSIBLE SPOILERS COMING UP

We're expected to swallow a story line where every single one of those adults, including professional people like a vet and a nurse, are prepared to collude in a vile crime "because the family has suffered enough already".

Too much OTT "sackcloth and ashes", lingering camera shots on not-very-convincing anguished expressions from the two female leads.

I shan't be tuning in again...

Iam64 Thu 01-Sept-16 20:19:45

We watched and yes, it's a bit OTT but sometimes, so is life. I agree with Jalima about the size of the hole for the car and the shovels.
Also about the forensics they're leaving all over the place.

I believe the son killed his brother. That their father knows something from the messages he was getting from dead son. I can't work out how dodgy or unhappy the teenage boy from the farm next door, younger brother of dead sister/daughter is.

I like the nurse daughter. she's the only one with any integrity or sense but allowed herself to be drawn in, that's the bit I do find hard to accept. Such a big conspiracy, it will never work.

Unless the drug manufacturing police inspector has to cover it all up to hide her own crime. I'll give up now and accept that those here who say its OTT may just be right. It's one of the few drama's on currently though isn't it.

Also about the forensics they're leaving all over the place.
I usually end up shouting at the screen, 'oh fgs, this is ridiculous', especially at programmes like 'Waking the Dead'
usually the ones on the BBC now I come to think about it hmm

Well, I have to know if all these stupid errors they have made leaving obvious evidence everywhere will be discovered or are not part of it. So I'll have to watch the rest unfortunately grin

Grannyknot Thu 01-Sept-16 20:33:34

What is the body count now, please? grin

(I'm not watching it any longer, this is much more entertaining, so will follow on here!)

Eloethan Thu 01-Sept-16 22:47:55

I'm wondering if any of them killed the supposed murderer. Maybe it was someone else.

I suppose I'll watch it to see what happens but I find some of the acting a bit "hammy".

I usually love a good British drama so I was looking forward to this one . What a let down ! more like an Agatha Christy who done it but in this case I don`t really care . Will not watch any more episodes . Yes very `hammy` Eloethan .

trisher Fri 02-Sept-16 08:59:34

It is rubbish isn't it. And a set of characters you really don't care about. I suppose the nurse is supposed to be the nice one but honestly they could all go and wouldn't be missed. A nice farmhouse fire perhaps...

Jalima Fri 02-Sept-16 23:45:42

What on earth made Juliet Stephenson think it was a good idea to do this (she can't be short of money, surely?)

I was waiting for Vyvyan Ade Edmonson to bring a bit of light-hearted fun to the proceedings but alas, not so far.

trisher Sat 03-Sept-16 10:50:53

Oh I don't care who killed the young couple. In fact their deaths seem to be of complete insignificance. No-one seems to be very concerned and all the usual details that have to be attended to after a death simply aren't happening. Their families are far too busy burying cars (apart from Juliet Stephenson who is frantically cleaning all night, to little effect)
Grannyknot Bodycount is 4 (I think)

jinglbellsfrocks Tue 06-Sept-16 23:12:58

I've been watching the first two episodes back to back this evening. Yes. Rubbish. Haven't a clue what the side stories are all about. Mind you, I have been doing a quick bit of GNing now and then.

Might as well watch the last one also on catch up, tomorrow.

ninathenana Tue 06-Sept-16 23:33:30

I don't think the person who confessed actually did it. I think he/she is trying to protect someone. Not sure they did it either.

Grannyknot Wed 07-Sept-16 07:39:17

shock 4! Thanks, trouser.

Grannyknot Wed 07-Sept-16 07:40:29

grin - autoKindle calls you Trouser! grin

PRINTMISS Wed 07-Sept-16 08:01:49

Well, it is all a bit messy, isn't it. Dark filmy, misty scenes, mumbled talk, there must be a decent end, surely.

Greyduster Wed 07-Sept-16 08:14:39

It all got on my nerves to such an extent last night I went off to read a book. What an odious shower they are. Lock 'em all up and have done with it!

BlueBelle Wed 07-Sept-16 08:34:19

I was looking forward to this and wanted to enjoy it but I m not sitting on the edge of my seat waiting for Tuesday to come round and was wondering why but thinking about it I dont really have any belief in any of the characters None of them have made me warm to them not even nice nurse and neither have they reviled me even the nasty druggie and the police woman with the ill daughter all seemed a bit surreal So no I wouldnt put off a long soak in the bath to watch it although I ll see it through now but a bit of a disappointment

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 07-Sept-16 12:01:12

Yes. "surreal" is the right word about the side stories. They seem superfluous. Unless I've missed something.

felice Wed 07-Sept-16 12:27:50

Turned on last night to see Ade Edmunson walk under a lorry, made my blood boil as SIL is a lorry driver and they all dread that scenario.
Turned straight back off.

trisher Wed 07-Sept-16 13:42:45

Grannyknot maybe I should change my name!! It's all a bit rubbishy. You could play "Who will be the next body?" but that might be taking it too seriously.

gettingonabit Wed 14-Sept-16 07:36:12

Well, that was clear as mudconfused.

I presume Bill killed the guy?

To many loose ends for me. What was the point of the drugs story? Why did the children not know about their parentage? And why did the tube in tumour girl's nose appear to go nowhere?

LullyDully Wed 14-Sept-16 08:07:11

We.gave up.after the first episode, looks like.we.made the right decision.

ninathenana Wed 14-Sept-16 08:11:43

The drugs story did appear to be"padding"
I'd worked out the couple were brother and sister.
Yes, I agree they should have made it clear that Bill finished off the guy he hired.

trisher Wed 14-Sept-16 10:07:22

Oh it was such rubbish. Why did that girl need an operation and where were she and her mum going if she was so ill? Did Grace's mum really never suspect that her husband might not be the dad? Fully understand why Ade Edmondson did what he did-quickest way out!!

Jalima Wed 14-Sept-16 17:50:57

She had a brain tumour apparently trisher and they were going to Mumbai for her to have an operation.

Someone must have sat and thought about all the bad things that can possibly happen and threw them all into this one series.
Rape, stalking, murder(s), child destruction, car theft, covering up crimes, alcoholism, drug dealing, corrupt police officer, hacking, suicide(s), serious illness (NHS refusing to operate), potential euthanasia, wrongful arrest, adultery, incest !!!

Have I missed anything?

Jalima Wed 14-Sept-16 17:51:29

oh - blackmail!

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 14-Sept-16 17:53:50

Gonna watch last night's episode tonight, but don't expect too much of it.
