I know they did a lot of research on famous people years ago but never televised the programmes.

The most amusing one was Susan Sarandon, she came with quite a large number of her family from America , they had heard the family story their ancestors had come from Wales . Experts hunted , nothing, finally she asked for a DNA test , the results showed a connection with Wales , they were photographed with a very large Welsh flag and declared they were Welsh

Thank you for the info Chelseababy
I found some of DH's family in newspaper reports from years ago when they emigrated, which included photos - always interesting to see what they looked like!

I think I will record it

Lully, Welsh families are more difficult to trace, I do look ups for people from many countries who want to find where their Welsh ancestors were from

Doing some family research over the years I have found the Welsh side so much harder to trace than my English side . All those Jenkins and Evans with big families. My husband's family were posher and therefore easier, than mine as he can go to newspapers. We are both half Welsh. Mine are very frustrating however.

I know my Grandfather was involved in the tragic Senghenhydd pit disaster when 439 miners died in 1913. He survived but so many in the little village didn't.

Perhaps I'll get some ideas on the programme.

I think this programme was mentioned somewhere before? Anyway it is being repeated on BBC Wales starting on 22 August at 22:45. The first celebrity is Iwan Thomas. I'll be setting my series link as its on too late for me!
