Signed. It's such a privilege to be able to hear him when he shares his knowledge with us. You get the impression it's just the tip of the iceberg of what he could tell us but his manner is so good you don't feel in any way patronised or that he's nerdy either.
Pity the BBC don't appear ever to listen to their viewers/listeners.
They got rid of Tony Blackburn on radio 2 for the most ridiculous of reasons. We're the poorer again for not enjoying his knowledge and lovely manner either.

He is wonderful and speaks openly about his autism.

I really enjoy Chris Packham's presentation style. He makes you sit up and take notice of the communities bustling away around you.

Spring/Summer/Autumn/Winterwatch wouldn't be the same without him. I hope they don't let him go.

Signed. The Countryside Alliance thinks it has the upper hand now that TM is PM and wants to repeal the anti-hunting ban. The BBC should have no truck with such lobbying.

Anniebach, so agree with you- the Countryside alliance is just too powerful- and has too much support in the Conservative party and English (so called) Nature - who again agree for a licence to kill buzzards to protect .... game birds (totally 'un'natural, raised for the guns and the plate- but big money).

I was not that mad on him as a person, he sometimes appeared rather arrogant. But now I understand he has his problems with autism/depression, which explains a lot.

The important thing is that he has a life long genuine love of nature, and wants the best for wildlife. He doesn't mind being outspoken if it helps get things sorted... and that is what is needed. The BBC should encourage him, I totally agree with the article.

Chris Packham is the latest in a line of wildlife presenters with forthright opinions who eventually fall foul of the BBC in its eagerness to keep everything bland and safe. They raise them up then sit back and wait for them to press the self destruct button.

Bill Oddie, Robin Page and even dear old Phil Drabble have all been there.

David Attenborough, of course, has always been too clever for them.

I can't stand the man, I'd rather watch paint dry that listen to him.

Yes goose that's right. I would support him all the way. We need courageous people to stand up for the environment and wildlife. There are too few of them against the profit motivated vested interests.

I've hear from a reliable source that he's on the autistic spectrum so may lack the off button when it comes to voicing his opinion

I'm with you Daphne. I think Chris P is a sincere man and has such great knowledge of the countryside. The BBC can be very nasty and this concerns me.
