I've not watched this series of Happy Valley because I find it too harsh even though I love the actresses in it. I have enough rough stuff going on in my life just now, I need more gentle tele like Tim and Pru on The Great Canal Journeys. Something beautiful to calm the soul. smile

Yes, I've started to use sub titles , too . I used to avoid programmes with them but now seek them out !

Thank goodness for sub titles! There is nothing wrong with my hearing but I need to use sub titles more frequently- sometimes because I do not understand regional accents.

They have such tunnel vision don't they? It's never their fault. Our new television has all sorts of settings for sound, but if the dialogue is mumbled and indecipherable changing the settings just makes it loud and mumbled.

I was just listening to the Graham Norton radio programme this morning and he was interviewing a woman who I think must be the producer of Happy Valley among others progs (I only switched on after she'd been introduced). Anyway, Graham asked her about the complaints about its being hard to hear at times. Her response? Its not them. All of us need to retune our TVs! I was so irritated. I wanted Graham to ask how it was that the Great British Public could somehow make out what was being said on every other programme! She even said she was quite cross about being asked about this so often! Graham was too nice to her about it. angry
