And away we go again!

LullyDully Mon 11-Jul-16 19:55:54

Another pantomime baddie. If Ursula.is away then Rob will have to ask for.help perhaps. Summer holidays are long enough without a stick.

merlotgran Mon 11-Jul-16 19:44:53

When Bruce was complaining of indigestion I hoped he was going to have a heart attack and drop dead.

Didn't Rob get custody of Henry because he stressed Ursula would be there to help? Can't Pat and Tony move quickly on that one?

Elrel Mon 11-Jul-16 15:13:34

Pip succumbing to tupping Toby rather than righteous Rex, should run and run!!

Elrel Mon 11-Jul-16 15:08:41

Phoenix - my first lol of the day, Tony's Twisted Turnips. Great name for a CW band!! Have some twistable tulips: ?

AyjayF Mon 11-Jul-16 14:05:44

The Toby/ Pip discussion after the night on Lakey Hill was more toe- curling than the Sid/ Jolene shower scene? Enough already!!!

petra Mon 11-Jul-16 14:02:09

Gracesgran I understand that they don't want to antagonise him. But don't answer the phone by asking " what can I do for you" just say hello, as most people do when they answer the phone.
And why wasn't the barrister aware that Rob only uses his walking stick when he goes to court? He's around the village enough without it.

AyjayF Mon 11-Jul-16 13:56:57

Maybe there are servants chez Bruce + Ursula

Gracesgran Mon 11-Jul-16 13:37:07

Maybe Rob's brother is looking after Dad. We haven't heard anymore of him have we.

merlotgran Mon 11-Jul-16 13:33:06

Yes. I can't imagine Bruce even knows how to load the washing machine.

AyjayF Mon 11-Jul-16 13:28:58

How old is Ursula? She is poisonous but seems to be doing everything. Presume she has full care of Henry. Bruce must be lost without her.

merlotgran Mon 11-Jul-16 12:51:36

Going back to Rob's petulance yesterday (what's new?)

I would have thought they'd be pleased that Henry wasn't given Sunday Lunch or he wouldn't have been hungry when he returned to BHC and I'm sure his picnic contained more than a shrivelled sandwich. hmm

merlotgran Mon 11-Jul-16 12:43:45

It's supper in our house and we don't 'set' the table, we 'lay' it.

Only on high days and holidays though.....most times we just grab a knife and fork out of the kitchen drawer.

I'm going to have to listen out for the 'Afternoons' and 'Evenings' as opposed to just 'Hello' or 'Hi'

Haven't noticed them before.

Gracesgran Mon 11-Jul-16 12:18:25

merlot my worry is that if Bruce is bullying Rob he will he take it out on Henry.[shuddering]

tiffany I call it supper, tea, dinner, my evening meal all depending on the how, when and why of it smile I don't have the sort of supper that is cocoa and a biscuit so I suppose the name has got borrowed. I think it got varied when it stopped being a set dinner at a set time.

This may amuse If you go down in the comments to the one by Nuttycow 19 March, 2008 at 6:30 pm you will see she mentions "kitchen sups" - very Cotswolds! That is one I can really live without.

tiffaney Mon 11-Jul-16 12:01:39

I love the Archers, have listened to it for years. It always amuses me how polite they all are to each other saying 'Evening' or 'Afternoon' when they meet but it really gets up my nose when they call the evening meal 'Supper'.
Now what do you call supper where you live? Supper to me is a cup of cocoa and a biscuit!!!

merlotgran Mon 11-Jul-16 10:21:30

The last time we heard from Bruce Rob was on life support I think so we haven't actually heard an exchange between them have we?

Two nasty bullies under the same roof playing the control game?

My money's on Bruce.

AyjayF Sun 10-Jul-16 22:58:14

Still intrigued by Robs brother, Miles. I know they said they didn't get on but you'd think a near death experience would merit a quick visit or phone call.

Gracesgran Sun 10-Jul-16 22:48:14

I'm not sure I can bear it merlot. You would think he would want his wife to come home though wouldn't you. It's very odd. No doubt more will be revealed.

merlotgran Sun 10-Jul-16 22:34:38

'Now then, Henry. Shall we take a lovely photo of you with clever Mummy's trophy that she won for making the best cheese in Borsetshire? You can write her a card and we'll send it to her and it will make her sooooo happy because she loves you very much despite what evil Daddy says

'On the other hand, we could go and see some really boring nice friends of ours and you can spend the afternoon playing with a rusty bolt. Won't that be fun?'

I think we need Bruce to liven things up.

Gracesgran Sun 10-Jul-16 22:31:25

Why Tony petra and phoenix? This is an incredibly difficult situation and both Tony and Pat are dealing with it as best they can. Add to that the fact that they are now well aware Rob will twist anything he can to use against them and I really don't know what you think he could do.

Of course Tony could be curt or even lose his temper but where would that get them?

phoenix Sun 10-Jul-16 22:06:15

Tony needs a damn good kick up the cabbages followed by a swift punch to his Pak choi.

A twist to the turnips wouldn't go amiss either, except they are out of season.

petra Sun 10-Jul-16 21:22:05

Am I the only one who wants to throttle Helens father? I can understand that he doesn't want to antagonise Rob, but to answer the phone and say " hello Rob, how can I help you"? Spineless *$€^%#>

Lazigirl Sun 10-Jul-16 21:02:58

Funny when his dad phoned Rob didn't engage him, just passed him to his mother. No love lost there me thinks. I guess we will gradually glean clues to the root of family's dysfunctional behaviour when Titchener senior arrives, if he plays more of an active part in drama. Perhaps you regulars have picked this up previously, but I have missed episodes featuring him. We may even end up feeling sorry for Rob............No perhaps not!

Gracesgran Sun 10-Jul-16 19:55:38

You could hear the fear in Ursula's voice or was I imagining it.

What would the courts say if Rob moved away at this point. The decision about who he lives with cannot be final until September; Henry is established at his school, etc. Would they allow Rob to move him?

LullyDully Sun 10-Jul-16 19:51:47

I think you are right. Thought Rob was a bit of a panto baddie today.
