They`ve left it very open, haven`t they? So I presume there will be another series. I am assuming that it was him who shot the bridegroom, after the lad more or less told him that he knew what he`d done and how he`d done it, and why.

Perhaps Coates isn't as wholesome as he appeared ......leading us to another series. I wonder will the bride be pregnant from her one-night-stand.

Coates paid Red (dead and buried) to sabotage the new viaduct. He gave spare key to Red so that that he could access the gunpowder store. In the ensuing explosion one chap died and another died later. They were buried in top of Red (in order that his body was concealed - the young lad had killed him in self-defence). Coates had been offered money from a rival company (?) to sabotage the project - perhaps because not everyone agreed with the viaduct being built in the valley.
I think.....
Anyway, the bridegroom is/was the only one who knew about the spare key.

Thanks Marelli for filling in some of the bits that I missed. I couldn't work out Coates' motive for putting a spanner in the works, and didn't see him paying Red.
