Am I the only one having a problem with Cathrine then,I could smack her round the ear with a wet fish,bleddy woman.She ought to be like a wafer biscuit the way she rushes around.
And if it was real life,I would say,take some time off and sort your grandson out.

Sorry to sound grumpy but if you haven't watched the latest episode, why look at a thread where people are discussing it?

That little boy is a wonderful actor, totally believable as a boy of 10 who has difficulties in his life.....amazing.

Please don't give away any too much information yet please. It could spoil it for those who have not been able to watch it yet.

I live in the Midlands so everywhere else is either up North or down South.

I too saw Con O'Neil as Micky in Blood Brothers.

Sad ending (tonight) The mum did him a kindness. Or so she thought. Put him a happy and peaceful frame of mind before she killed him.

I agree that it's good to see some decent drama on TV however I have to concentrate so hard just to follow the dialogue, because it is spoken so fast. I also find the strident music annoying and distracting. Because of this I find it hard to follow the plot sometimes, and DH has to fill in the gaps for me from time to time. I think the acting is very good and will probably win a few awards, which will be well deserved.
Sarah Lancashire has come a long way since ditzy Raquel in Corrie!

I think the comments about how 'attractive' or otherwise, the characters are, are quite obviously subjective. I don't usually enjoy this type of programme, however, I find each individual character quite believable. I will be sorry when it ends - such a fabulous cast...

As said above, great episode, it all seems to be coming together, or falling apart very fast!
I've seen Con O'Neill in a couple of things lately, can't recall which. I think he a good, versatile actor.

Amelia Bullmore wasn't she a police woman in another series? Scott and Bailey?
I thought it was Angela Pleasence but couldn't be sure (the credits go up far too fast!)
And Con O'Neill was in another series, was it to do with the Army?
And of course Kevin Doyle (baddie detective) and Siobhan Finneran were in Downton together.
Daniel Cawood (Karl Davies) was in Emmerdale

I agree, very good tonight but Catherine (Sarah Lancashire) was speaking too quickly and muttering as well. I have sub titles on so I can follow it.

Well I was assuming if her son really was a murderer they would have caught up with him and he looked like the sort whose life would have been hell in prison.

She knew they would be tracked down and wanted to save her son from the fate he'd eventually face is my bet. Besides, a couple of thousand pounds wouldn't fund the spree they were talking about...

Yrs end was a surprise, why didn't the mum just carry out the plans they were discussing

This is really very good. I am now thinking (hoping) that there is enough going on in Happy Valley to warrant another series. Though we don't know what will happen next week....

Well, that episode was good I thought, and I didn't notice any muttering (although I did have subtitles on just in case!)
gettingonabit re the love interest Neil, I saw him years ago in Blood Brothers. He was the 'poor' twin, and his voice was what made me notice him! Con O'Neill I think he's called.

That was a stunning episode most unexpected end.

Iam64. I only started watching the first series because I wanted to see the area, love it but haven't been there for many years.

Although I think Norton is a great actor I actually don't find him attractive as Tommy Lee or the Vicar of Grantchester. However in War and Peace I didn't immediately recognise him, partly because he looked so attractive, if arrogant, in it!
