Same here Alea, I found out on the car radio just before walking my dogs and wept all the way around the park.

January's been an awful month - we lost David Bowie, Alan Rickman and now Terry - may they all rest in peace... sad

I worked on his chat show for over four years. He was just lovely. So sad sad

RIP Terry, you brightened up many a dull morning
We used to enjoy his evening chat show too, in fact he brought a wry humour and charm to everything he did and a new, irreverent sparkle to the (otherwise dire) Eurovision.

Such sad news. Always put him on in my classroom in the morning before the children came in, me and my classroom assistant would dance round the room setting things out. Thanks for the jokes, the strange silly campaigns and the music. You will be missed. Another good guy gone. RIP Tel from one TOG.sad
Remembering the postmen and the rubber bands! smile

I well remember sitting in early morning traffic jams shaking with laughter at something outrageous he'd said and, looking around, seeing everyone in all the other cars laughing too. He made people laugh. A good way to be remembered.

He was a lovely commentator and all-round personality with a twinkle in his eye. There can't be anyone who didn't like him. I can imagine him and Dave Allen amusing everyone "up there" and giving them all a good time.

DH and myself went to the BBC theatre in London one Sunday, some years ago, to be in the audience of his live radio show.
He seemed a lovely, warm man and we thoroughly enjoyed it, particularly his banter with Elio Pace and his band.
Sad news, indeed.

Pittcity Sun 31-Jan-16 09:45:05

Very sad news sad
He was too ill to do Children in Need in November and hadn't been on his radio show since so we guessed it was something seriuos, but this has still come as a shock. RIP.

Alea Sun 31-Jan-16 09:44:23

For reasons I don't entirely understand, other than that he was a genuinely entertaining, warm, witty and human personality, I am in tears. Another of the good guys. RIP Sir Terry, called to a "subsequent engagement" sad

HannahLoisLuke Sun 31-Jan-16 09:38:51

Terribly sad to hear the news of Terry's death. Although not a huge fan of his radio programme I always thought he was a wonderful, genuine man. I did enjoy his programmes on TV travelling around Ireland. This is trivial but I thought he was a very good looking chap too, especially as he got older, wearing his jaunty tweed cap, and with that twinkle in his eye.
RIP Terry.

Nelliemoser Sun 31-Jan-16 09:33:20

RIP from me as well. He was lovely and his wry sense of humour was brilliant. What a loss.

The Eurovision song contest was only worth listening to because of his comments.

Wonderful radio Programmes from Sir Terry and he always seemed like a lovely gentleman- a very sad day. Sincere condolences to his wife who he used to call the current Mrs Wogan. flowers

He was one of my all time favourite radio personalities made me laugh when I felt more like crying . A great gentleman R.I.P. Terry.

merlotgran Sun 31-Jan-16 09:27:55

Such a shame. Another one gone. sad

baubles Sun 31-Jan-16 09:27:02

I'm saddened by this news. I loved his sense of the absurd, he brightened many a morning.

POGS Sun 31-Jan-16 09:26:12

I liked his type of humour and wit.

I was quite shocked to hear this news. I watched his series aired only a few months ago on BBC 2 where he travelled around the country with a London Cabby looking at the local food and customs and he looked great.

He never had a whiff of any wrong doing in all his years of being so prominent , he just seemed a likeable, genuine bloke.

Bye Terry.

loopylou Sun 31-Jan-16 09:23:06

Good grief, I am really shocked.
I too loved listening to him, he brightened up my day.

ninathenana Sun 31-Jan-16 09:21:53

I didn't know sad
He's given me many laughs over the years.
R.I.P. Terry

Alima Sun 31-Jan-16 09:19:24

Oh no, I loved listening to him. A terrible loss to his family and broadcasting. RIP Sir Terry.

Greyduster Sun 31-Jan-16 09:18:03

I was shocked. I didn't know he was ill. His radio show was an absolute joy and he'll be sadly missed. sad

morethan2 Sun 31-Jan-16 09:07:12

Oh Terry Wogan has died. I listen to him for most of my working life. I've had many a chuckle. Thanks Terry and R.I.P sad
