Deutchland 83

I loved this but there were so many holes in the plot! A secretary is murdered and our hero buries her in woodland, presumably in a shallow grave. Nobody seems to notice her disappearance, nobody refers to her again and no dog unearths her. Also, her boss shoots himself at his rather nice Art Nouveau desk - again nobody notices. And our hero is constantly on the run, even after having a kidney removed. And every car he manages to get into has the keys in the ignition and a full tank of fuel. Enormous fun, though.

Whole series is still available to catch up on All 4. We saw the first two weeks, very much enjoyed it and will make a point of catching the rest.

It was on Channel 4 and absolutely brilliant, and at times really had you on the edge of your seat! I think it reflected the 1980's, no Walkmans in the 1960's, also the reference to Aids, again, not a problem in the 60's. References to Andropov, and the photo of Gorbachev in the last episode, all pointed to the run up to reunification. I do hope they do another series!!

We've been watching it and enjoying it - the music is great too. It was so funny watching the reaction to finding out how the walkmam worked and what it did! I do agree that it's better to watch a recorded version and whizz through the adverts.

Perhaps not many on Gnett watching or commenting, but don't take that as a reason not to watch.

I've recorded all episodes but have yet to watch them so all comments useful in determining whether to bother or not.

Yes we are watching it . I enjoyed it when they were stumped by the floppy disk. He does seem to get away with a lot!

"60's feel" set in 1983?
From what I remember of East Germany I can well imagine that it was very much stuck in a period 30 years earlier - look at Goodbye Lenin, for example, but I believe the designers worked hard to achieve the right effect for West Germany in the 80's.
