It's getting very exciting. I've never seen the whole thing before. I thought I wouldn't like it, but I do! It's lovely. tchsmile

Yes! We are absolutely hooked on it! I can't believe how much I'm enjoying it given the number of times it used to be shown - every year at Christmas for years on end it seemed. tchsmile

Oh, that ended a bit more abruptly than the original tchsad

Yes! I thought we were going to see them get over the mountain and into Switzerland. I'm sure Julie Andrews did. Shame that.

Passed a lovely evening though.

Surprised how absorbed I was.

I think the ending is the same as the film and the stage show.

DH watched it under sufferance and annoyed me by deliberately singing out of tune but even he shut up and watched at the end.

Alexander Armstrong was excellent.

We went to a Sing-along Sound of Music in a Leeds cinema. Half the audience were wearing wimples. Great fun!

Yes he was, wasn't he. I don't much like him on Pointless, but I've always enjoyed seeing him in acting roles.

That was to merlot about Alexander Armstrong!

SOM is an absolute bucketful of wonderful memories. I took my grandmother to see the film when she was in her eighties. She hadn't been to 'the pictures' for decades and loved it so much she leapt to her feet and applauded at the end of 'Climb Every Mountain' to the amusement of everyone sitting next to us. blush

It's a must watch film for all the DGDs. They know it backwards.

Went to the singalong version with DD about ten years ago, dressed as a brown paper package.

DH and I saw Connie Fisher's last performance at The Palladium. She was presented with the original score by Andrew Lloyd Webber.

It's as cheesy as hell but I love it.

Yes just watching last vew minutes, I switched to watch Bear with Barack O'Bama then switched back to see the rest of SOM on +1. Now I am going to watch Homeland on catchup (my recorder is not working so I have had to do some juggling!).

I did heaven help me! It's why I am still not in bed. I felt this version was less mawkish than the original block buster Julie Andrews one.
