Just caught the end of this, the question was 'Name a song with the word fly in the title'
They gave 'Fly me to the moon' which was disallowed. Youtube gives that as the title. Frustratingly Richard didn't explain.
Any ideas ?

Wikepedia says: "Fly Me to the Moon", originally titled "In Other Words".

I can only assume they were being sticklers about the name of the song having to be the original one.

As a Sinatra fan for many years and remembering when he recorded it , perhaps because the title when it was written was - ' In Other Words 'no idea if this is the reason

Yes I read that Ana but it's been recorded by so many under the title Fly me...... that would be so petty smile but I can think of no other reason.

I think the question was 'name a tune which had been in the UK Top Forty with 'Fly' in the title.

I was on GN at the time so can't be sure (multi-tasking and procrastinating - how about that!)

Perhaps Fly me to the Moon was before the top 40 was invented?

Wickie says it reached No3 in UK singles chart though I can't find what year.
Reminds me of that other song
It's a mystery grin

Great episode though! How does Murray do it at 90?

PRINTMISS Sun 29-Nov-15 08:03:02

It was a good episode wasn't it, and certainly Murray was great and enjoying himself, very much respected by all kinds of people. I think the "Fly me to the moon" (one of my favourites) I thought that was what was said. It did seem a bit unfair to me, but it is all for charity, and fun so hopefully no one was too upset.

I love Celebrity Pointless simply for the moments when AA describes them as Pointless Celebrities. Never a more accurate description in some cases grin

I'd forgotten about I'm Mandy Fly Me until it was pointless. Loved 10CC!
