Oh you're right! Can't tell one from the other these days-none of them can sing.

KatyK Sun 08-Nov-15 16:06:45

I agree re Rod. Good old Rod smile

rosequartz Sun 08-Nov-15 16:04:44

Pixie Lott can't sing! She did an appalling version of The World in Union for the Rugby World Cup which I only heard a couple of times. I assume somebody realised it was a disaster and buried it. I suppose she 'knows' a lot of the right people

I found it very emotional, especially the interview with the widows and when they came down the steps.

I'm not sure why Pixie Lott and Rod Stewart were giggling like a pair of teenagers (old enough to know better surely).
I've never heard her sing before and I will assume she was nervous as it wasn't very good.

Who was the other man who sang with the cap on? I could have listened to him all night!

merlotgran Sun 08-Nov-15 09:15:59

Couldn't they have chosen somebody who could actually sing? hmm

Pittcity Sun 08-Nov-15 08:31:54

I think Rod Stewart had made her laugh.

kittylester Sun 08-Nov-15 07:29:20

I thought it was all fabulous apart from Pixie Lott! And, what was she grinning at ?

cornergran Sun 08-Nov-15 07:13:32

Agree about Pixie. Maybe unwell? The Service beautiful and triggering so many thoughts and memories of family connections as it does each year.

Liz46 Sun 08-Nov-15 07:07:26

Absolutely, numberplease. She was incapable of singing that song.

I thought that tonight`s service was lovely, apart from when Pixie Lott sang (??) A Nightingale Sang in Berkley Square. She was so out of tune it was painful to hear, and it looked painful for her to reach those high notes, without a lot of success!

I'm back. We watched our little black and white television, but couldn't see Dad. At the end he went down to the centre of the hall and picked up some poppy petals. He carried them in his wallet for years after. They were quite faded when he eventually threw them away. The County and the Brampton Standard Bearers attended his funeral. That's all I wanted to say, thanks.

The poppies are falling....So moving.

seacliff Sat 07-Nov-15 22:18:58

I agree, very moving and like many in the audience, am in tears, after hearing from the three wives who lost their husbands in the hercules .

hildajenniJ Sat 07-Nov-15 22:18:00

I am feeling very nostalgic while watching. My late father went twice to the Royal Albert Hall in the late 1950's to carry the British Legion Standard for Cumberland and Westmoreland after winning the regional Standard Bearer's competition. (Now I'm in tears, they are singing my favourite hymn, we had it at Dad's funeral in September). More later, excuse me.

Remembrance Festival always makes me cry.
Rod seems to be getting better with age. His songs that is, not his looks.

merlotgran Sat 07-Nov-15 21:48:21

Good old Rod! His voice might be weak these days but he can't 'alf write a good song.

Very moving.
