Just watched this, and found it incredibly moving, more than any other film or tv adaptation.Sniff!

Looking forward to watching it on iPlayer. Downton Abbey won tonight but it might be the other way round next week when it clashes with Cider With Rosie.

Bit too slow for me.

Loved it.

It was good and the little boy was adorable but I think there's a limit to how many period costume dramas I can watch on a Sunday night. Strange that they're pushing sales of the dvd straight away; surely most people are recording or planning to rewatch on catchup? Mind you, I'd like them to re do Tom's Midnight Garden.

I enjoyed it, beautifully done, with that soft atmospheric touch. Recorded Downton so that we can flip through the adverts, it is surprising how much actual content there is when we do this.

Oh yes! Tom's Midnight garden is really good. Bring it back.
Do they still do these classic childrens dramas these days, or is it all silly over coloured nonsense on Childrens TV ?
I watched "Good night Mr Tom" a few weeks ago and shed a few tears.
How about The Silver Sword?

I enjoyed it too and watched it over Downton for the same reason as Printmiss.

As with An Inspector Calls we saw a very strange production of this a few years back [I think they turned it into a sort of opera come musical confused]. Again, this was much better.

DH who watched this with me has just put on Facebook that it was 90 minutes loo long. Philistine.

Is it a remake of the film? That was lovely.

I have recorded it, watched Downton last night. I loved the film with Julie Christie and Alan Bates, and always remembered that opening line "the past is a foreign country they do things differently there". I'm looking forward to watching this new adaptation, I've heard it's good.

I watched The Go-Between last night and really enjoyed it. I've never seen it before (didn't like Alan Bates) so no comparisons.
The setting and scenery was lovely, but I wasn't too keen on the ending.
