Thanks, suzied, I have set my TV to record WH.
The actress who plays Helen is on Woman's Hour today. I'm sure she won't be revealing the plot, but might be interesting. I woke up today thinking about what might happen. How sad is that? I think it's all building up to a climax, though, she has called the helpline, cancelled the home birth and told Rob to cook his own dinner. She's also told Henwee that he'd never be sent away and always live with mummy, ignoring the question " and daddy?"
Rob? He's probably gone through Peggy's money by now.
I think Peggy is a right old bag bat being so critical of Henry remarking how timid and babyish he was behaving, and unsympathetic towards Helen to boot. Hope the choc cake choked her - but this is no doubt part of the build up to the time (soon I hope) Rob will eventually be shown in true colours. Whoops am getting carried away here - this is not real life....but can't take much more. When Peggy said that Rob was not just a pretty face Helen replied emphatically that he wasn't. Yippee!
Oh, blimey! Is Alf going to be in Gloucester prison again! He's spent most of his life there or has the curtain money been nicked by someone else?
Obviously now that the seed has been planted and Helen has made that call, she is in danger. He's a psychopath and it could turn very nasy. Would the producers do that? Who knows.
All I know is that my OH will be pleased when it's over as I keep shouting at the radio. That's shouting at Helen,WAKE UP.
Perhaps, when it starts to come out and people cannot believe that Saint Rob could have behaved in that way, Peggy will comment on how her first Jack appeared to the outside world - life and soul of the party - and how difficult it was living with him.
I worry for Helen though. If she starts to assert herself she could be in danger - and assert herself she must
I was hoping that Helen would tell Peggy everything , but unfortunately Peggy was more concerned with not getting a slice of simnel cake. I did think that she may be a little more empathetic considering the trails and tribulations she had with her first husband bit no she concentrated on cakegate
Re the Helen story she was getting grumpy with Peeggy for saying she looked tired and said it was her hormones. Peggy expressed the view to Pat that no one had hormones in her day, they just got on with it. Everyone was impressed with how Rob was coping and how he was worried about after the birth...poor thing.
I missed the last 10 minutes of the omnibus edition yesterday, DH had car 'trouble' and needed help. Please can anyone let me know what happened? (Can only listen to it on Sundays here in Cyprus)
I must say I do not understand those listeners who want the nice cosy Archers back.
This story is harrowing and I have felt quite scared when listening to many of these episodes but this stuff happens in real life. Two women being killed a week by a partner and women increase their risk of being attacked or such once they have left their abusive partners.
If this is publicised and it should be, more people might just realise that the idea of domestic abuse is not just about women being physically assaulted.
While at work I have been on numerous courses on domestic abuse so I have always been on the alert and aware of these issues. This makes it difficult for me to know how aware the general public might or might not be about these issues. Particularly the controlling behaviour and emotional abuse aspects.
I wonder how many of the Archers fans on GN new about this.
However I don't think that Archers addicts, as Radio 4 listeners, are a particularly representative group of the general public at all. They will have to re-run these scenarios on the early evening TV soaps.
A really good interview here with "Rob" The headline "I'm an abusive, narcissistic, psychopath who bullies his wife and may be a murderer... and I love it! Timothy Watson on being The Archers' arch villain as one of its most chilling storylines draws to a close" gives hope that this will not go on much longer.
I am really glad they brought up Stefan - I did wonder ...
(It took a while to load on my computer but worth waiting for - I think it is the advertising)
Rob will have that fiver from Henry!
An interesting article suzied .The Archers has always had slow burning stories which makes them real. I found the story of Jack Woolley hard too. . No triviality here, however hard to listen to.
I think the issue of controlling power over another person has been the most interesting. The " how can't Pat etc see what going on " which we all feel.
I have just listened again ( sad, I know). and Helen went out to the car to speak to Henry after Ursula left, so my theory was wrong!

It's being talked about everywhere! Interesting article. Love Linda Grants suggestion!

An interesting interview on Feedback.
No, I wasn't joking! I just thought it was odd that Ursula left while Helen was upstairs, then Rob said Henry was with Pat. I thought he might have sent Henry away with Ursula because of Helen's " erratic behaviour". Just for a holiday, obviously.
I sometimes think I am useless without faces merlogran
Sorry if I took you seriously when I shouldn't Daddima.
Regardless of my uselessness merlotgran I am glad to have found others with the same addiction
I think Daddima was joking?
I don't think Ursula has abducted Henry - he was at the farm when Ursula and Pat left to go after Helen. There are a lot of people to look after him there.
It is great that Helen is beginning to get her confidence back but don't they say the when someone does "turn" and see what is going on, this is the most dangerous time?
Any abduction/Ursula theme had not occurred to me either. Why would she want him? The person playing Pat must be very frustrated with her role now. She was a strong, feminist character. Apart from that why does she never see Helen? They live close to each other + Pat has the time. Very strange
Finally, Helen is fighting her way out of the prison that Rob has her locked in. Keep going Helen but PLEASE talk to your family. Rob is dangerous.
Daddima, why do you think Ursula may have abducted Henry? Have I missed something?
Does anybody else think Ursula may have abducted Henry?
This is more like it!!
