Bungee jumping accident in New Zealand?

phoenix Wed 16-Dec-15 09:21:52

Lully don't forget that Ruth almost ran off with Sam the cowman!

LullyDully Wed 16-Dec-15 08:30:29

It's a bit of a sideways shot this Ruth story. They have always had a strong, equal marriage. Apart from that stupid quasi affair they foisted on David a few years ago.
It can't be that she is leaving as they have replaced plenty of other actors with alien voices.
They are making David out as the baddy unfairly. IMO.

Iam64 Wed 16-Dec-15 07:37:28

suzied, I agree, the Ruth in NZ storyline is a poor one. Coming hot on the heels of selling Brookfield makes it even dafter. She and David were in line to follow Jill and Phill in providing stability and certainty to the Archer clan, especially their own children. She has a 13 year old son who had a pretty grim twelve months, the proposed move to the north east, his mum away and stressed out much of the time, his other grannie chucked out of house and home then the death of the grannie on her way to move into other grannie's room at Brookfield. then his mum clears off to NZ - very poor and also not in keeping with Ruth's character.

suzied Wed 16-Dec-15 07:29:12

I did think Ruth would do a Shirley Valentine in NZ, and not wish to return to her humdrum life. Unbelievable storyline. Almost as bad as the selling Brookfield- moving in Heather one. Who will take Carols place in Calendar Girls? Or has it been decided?

Alea Wed 16-Dec-15 04:19:25

Multiplying? confused
Who now?

Leonora47 Tue 15-Dec-15 23:26:58

Is it possible that Sam will turn out to be a Samantha? The Gay guys in Ambridge seem to be multiplying; but where are the female lovers?
And Ruth did go to NZ to, "find herself".
Surely not?

He'll convince Helen that he acted with the best of intentions. She's previously had an eating disorder hasn't she - I do hope the level of anxiety she's living with doesn't trigger a recurrence.

baNANAGran3 Tue 15-Dec-15 14:42:13

I too thought Ian was going to call the wedding off at the last minute - think I may have stopped breathing for a few seconds.... Surely Ian is going to confront Adam with what Rob has told him - and sooner or later Helen and Jennifer will get to hear of it and it'll be curtains for Rob.
(and I castigate my brother for watching East Enders.....)

chloe1984 Tue 15-Dec-15 14:25:45

Poor Helen couldn't even finish her lunch due to Rob being so nasty. I just wish Jess would come to visit and have a quiet chat with Helen before it's too late and he takes over the farm, dairy , shop and Henry . Perhaps Fallon could poison him with a cupcake?

Iam64 Tue 15-Dec-15 13:28:18

"Really nasty" Nelliemoser, how Safari is that. You are probably right though. Abusiv men ge worse when their partner is pregnant (tick) and often up he ante at special times, like Christmas

Nelliemoser Tue 15-Dec-15 13:16:14

I worry that Rob might get really nasty because his plan to wreck Adam and Ian's wedding did not work.

merlotgran Tue 15-Dec-15 12:24:45

The wedding was certainly 'edge of the seat' stuff. I thought Ian was going to do a runner at one point.

Rob would have hated having to propose a toast but he'll no doubt count it as another brownie point in his plan to control his universe.

LullyDully Tue 15-Dec-15 12:17:14

Perhaps Helen could get him to put the lights on the roof and give him a shove.

sparkygran Tue 15-Dec-15 10:51:20

Rob`s disclosure to Ian about "that kiss" and the night of passion with the Romanian picker was pure radio magic I thought. Wonder if Ian will ever address it with Adam?? I too wish Pat hadn`t lost her rattometer (great word by the way Iam64) she loathed Rob at first and I too think he put Scruff`s body above the feed - the original Mr Creepy Crawleytchwink

baNANAGran3 Mon 14-Dec-15 23:41:02

Not long joined GN and just found this thread - wonderful to hear what you all think of the Archers - I nearly choked when Rob told Ian about Adam's philanderings (but I love Rob's creepy voice). Lucky, I think you're probably right about Kirsty. Think Ruth should extend her time in New Zealand - I for one was getting heartily sick of her whining!

Iam64 Mon 14-Dec-15 20:25:55

It must be the Christmas elves Luckygirl. My post on the things to do today post also vaporised. I missed the catch up at lunch time, for the same reason I didn't get Christmas chores done. I'll try to catch up on my lap top tomorrow

Iam64 Mon 14-Dec-15 18:34:18

I do hope Helen doesn't have to hit rock bottom (again) before the truth comes out.
Does anyone else suspect that Rob deliberately put half Scruff's body above the feed, knowing the damage this would cause. maybe I've been reading too many thrillers grin

Luckygirl Mon 14-Dec-15 17:55:31

I think that Kirsty will be the one to spot what a s**t he is - she has the virtue of perspective, and I think she is already smelling a rat.

Iam64 Mon 14-Dec-15 17:30:26

Luckygirl, it must be the Christmas elves. My post on Jingle's thread about jobs were were to do today vaporised as well.

I don't mind Rob being an evil pantomime stereotype. to be frank, I met enough of them when I was working. I was hopeful when the midwife described him as 'the perfect man' - hopeful that the midwife realised that so often these men who appear to be 'perfect' are controlling, abusive ******. Pity Pat seems to have lost her rattometer totally. My hopes are pinned on PC wotsit and Fallon. Never on Helen, she is lost currently!

Luckygirl Mon 14-Dec-15 15:41:57

I posted on this yesterday but it seems to have vapourised into the ether.

I think that Rob is just becoming a silly character now - the evil pantomime stereotype so we can all yell "Boo" when he appears. Why would he do what he did yesterday? - it will just get back to Helen and she will see the light. Well - fingers crossed.

chelseababy Mon 14-Dec-15 13:22:32

Sorry *Iam64"

Iam64 Mon 14-Dec-15 12:39:51

Oh No - I'll be listening at 2, though I can almost guess what Rob is about to do.

chelseababy Mon 14-Dec-15 12:34:09

I had to listen to last nights episode again as I could hardly believe Rob. Now Ian will blame Helen for not telling him about "the kiss". Wonder if he'll go through with the wedding anyway. Are they already in a civil partnership?

pinkwallpaper Mon 14-Dec-15 06:41:42

Are ed and Emma living with neil and Susan still? Couldn't clarrie, Ed and Joe move into Will's house on The Green or is it flood damaged?
