I really really hope that the baby is a girl!!

Daddima Wed 30-Dec-15 13:23:17

Would Wob not buy a big dress to make Helen think she was gigantic? She does have a history of anorexia, doesn't she?

Elrel Wed 30-Dec-15 14:22:29

Chloe - I wondered at her deep sleep too!

Luckygirl Wed 30-Dec-15 19:31:54

Oh darn - it is a boy!

Oh dear - joint account eh?! Hopefully Pat will have something to say about that.

merlotgran Wed 30-Dec-15 19:45:06

How disappointing that Tom seems to have gone over to the dark side.

I think Rob doubled the fruit order to make Helen doubt herself and he wants to have her salary paid in to their joint account. She could end up with only money he allows her. Only fiction in the Archer's case but pretty typical of control freaks in real life. At last the Government seems to be recognising it as a social problem. Lets hope resources will be there to fund support of those who are being treated this way, and to hold to account those who cause such misery to those they say the love.

I notice the delectable Sarah vine wrote in her dm column today that the proposal to make emotional abuse an offence is daft and unenforceable. She made 'jokes' about 'nagging wives' . She can't be an Archer's fan or even she would surely have begun to notice Rob isn't the perfect husband he pretends to be

AyjayF Fri 01-Jan-16 12:29:32

Will it be Kirsty or Ian who twigs what Rob is up to? Or will Pat wake up + get it soon?? Still intrigued by Dr Locke knowing something about Rob. Here's hoping

Iam64 Fri 01-Jan-16 17:19:00

I wonder if Dr Locke was GP to Jess and so knows Rob emotionally abused and bullied her, and maybe knows she believed R to be her baby's father…..

LullyDully Sun 03-Jan-16 18:40:50

India Knight, in the Sunday Times, has written about how well portrayed the emotional bullying is on the Archers with the Rob story line.
She says Pat and Tony are fooled because they have fallen for his"taking good care of vulnerable Helen" line. She of course believes all the c--p because of her past mental health difficulties.

Could go on for a while as the Archers always let their storylines take a more natural time than some other soaps..

What did you make of Ruth's return? I thought it was a bit of an anti climax. Though she's not my favourite character I'm glad she's not leaving David!

suzied Mon 04-Jan-16 07:07:48

Yes it was supposed to be a revealling anniversary edition wasn't it? Bit of a damp squib. I know the crisis in dairy farming is an important issue, but doesnt make for great drama.

Iam64 Mon 04-Jan-16 07:46:39

The sw can't win can they, they're criticised for over dramatising or for writing an anniversary episode that is about real life in a farming family smile
I'm relieved Ruth has come home, restored by her break.

katie1 Mon 04-Jan-16 18:50:57

I read in the paper today, that the actor who plays David thinks his character is a bit'wet'! Also, some time ago when Ruth was having trouble keeping up with the shopping, why didn' she do an online shop? Regarding The Titcheners, I wondered if Rob was slipping something into Helen's food, as she always feels under the weather. Although he wouldn't want to harm the baby.

katie1 Mon 04-Jan-16 18:54:02

PS Is Dr Locke the Reverend in disguise???

Alea Mon 04-Jan-16 18:55:38

How do you get that?

merlotgran Mon 04-Jan-16 19:22:51

I think Doc Locke sounds like Harrison Burns.

Alea Mon 04-Jan-16 20:18:53

Perhaps they are economising and the entire cast is down to one actor and one actress!

LullyDully Mon 04-Jan-16 21:35:43

Sounds like it sometimes.

Wasn't rob on form this evening!.? Did he damage the bridle on the horse Shula was riding so he could ride to the rescue? How long before he resorts to physical violence now he's showing Helen just how angry he can get ?

Alea Tue 05-Jan-16 23:22:09

What did all the money he drew out go on?
Maintenance/hush money to Jess?
Nasty temper tantrum too, I do feel she is getting the message but knows it is too late.

Elrel Tue 05-Jan-16 23:25:25

I thought an expert like Shula would have noticed a faulty bridle strap, but it seemed far fetched that he'd damaged it. But Rob IS far fetched. Repulsive preening in front of the mirror that his hunting jacket from when he was 20 still fitted him. When he began hunting didn't he have to borrow the right clothes at first?
Helen is really losing it, saying she forgot Rob was cooking. On second thoughts she's probably making excuses not to eat. Is he sedating Henry with an after school snack? Am I paranoid?!

Iam64 Wed 06-Jan-16 08:22:21

Helen's eating disorder is back with a vengeance. I wonder if the midwife will notice when she begins to lose, rather than gain weight.
Yes, where is the money going?
Did Shula saddle her own horse or was that done by one of the teenage girls (always loads of them at any stables)

suzied Wed 06-Jan-16 10:41:33

It must be because Rob keeps telling her what a porker she is ..,

MaizieD Wed 06-Jan-16 10:58:23

It is beyond unlikely that a cheekpiece would break. And if someone else has tacked up your horse for you you should always do a quick check to see everything is correctly fastened. What an utterly stupid attempt to contrive a 'dramatic' situation.

And Shula's been riding for about 100 years. She should be able to get herself out of trouble...
