I can think of people I would prefer to see talking about the Monarch's longest reign record! I wonder how her majesty feels about it, and will she watch?
I don't think the Queen will choose the occasion to hand over the reins to Charles, do you? crown
Will you be following the coverage, or will it pass you by?

As she lived for part if her childhood at Sandringham, holidayed at Balmoral, her father had been equerry to the queen, her granny was lady in waiting to QM and her sister had been in a relationship with Charles she must have known what to expect . A very trouble woman and I doubt there was any man who could have made her happy, so sad. But I do think if anyone should have been told what to expect it should have been Charles

rubysong Wed 09-Sept-15 20:40:20

I too think Charles should be king when the time comes and Camilla should be queen.

annsixty Wed 09-Sept-15 20:45:52

My thoughts exactly rubysong.

I hope Camilla is reading this, she will find it encouraging if she does.

Let's just say Diana should have had advice from SOMEONE in the know before she agreed to marry PC. I expect she was dazzled by the idea of being Princess of Wales. But equally PC should have chosen more wisely - someone older than Diana and who shared his interests. Although didn't his bride have to be a virgin? There were probably not many 25 year old virgins who got excited about organic farming and architecture in the 1980s.. grin

Both of them damaged, in different ways.

Anniebach Wed 09-Sept-15 22:16:10

I agree with Phoenix , neither had balanced childhoods, they were both damaged , how sad for both

merlotgran Wed 09-Sept-15 22:16:53

Yes. Like Charles, Diana should have married somebody who could support her and cope with her needy ways.

I doubt she would have had a successful marriage though. Far too self-centered.

Ana Wed 09-Sept-15 22:18:42

Diana was only 19 when she and Charles got engaged, and 20 when they married, NTO. She may have been a bit dazzled by the attention, but it seems to have been machinations behind the scenes by relatives on both sides which actually brought the marriage about.

I agree with what you say, phoenix, both were damaged people.

Mandy Rice Davies was nineteen when The Lord Astor, Profumo , Stephen Ward scandal erupted .

shysal Thu 10-Sept-15 09:20:41

This amused me, but I think these days they seem to get on.

POGS Thu 10-Sept-15 12:14:42

Perhaps Camilla was 'whispering' in her ear there are demonstrators with republican banners outside., or Sharee Blair.

rosesarered Thu 10-Sept-15 13:55:47

Or Jeremy Corbyn?

Anniebach Thu 10-Sept-15 14:10:19

Or your PM ?

merlotgran Thu 10-Sept-15 14:19:58

Whose PM?

Anniebach Thu 10-Sept-15 14:52:30

The queens PM , who else?

Ana Thu 10-Sept-15 15:18:06

Yes, that photo was probably taken during Gordon's stint as PM...

rosesarered Thu 10-Sept-15 15:41:06

anniebach we know you are Welsh, but he is your PM as well. grin

Anniebach Thu 10-Sept-15 16:51:28

rosesarered, why bring nationality into a light hearted comment ? I did not say the English PM did I?

Anniebach Thu 10-Sept-15 17:13:15

Thinking in it rosesarered, the queen always speaks of 'my government ' so not surprising when it comes to the PM if she said ' your PM' similar to 'my armed forces ' but 'the national debt'

rosesarered Thu 10-Sept-15 19:12:50

You said 'your PM' AB.The Queen says 'my Government' because nominally she is the head of the government, although she has no actual power.

rosesarered Thu 10-Sept-15 19:14:18

Not that it matters btw.

Anniebach Fri 11-Sept-15 08:42:50

Yes I know why she refers to - my government, so it follows the head of the government is the PM, they are her PM's . You were so eager to have yet another snipe rosesarered you assume my comment - your PM was to you? Wrong, it was just a suggestion as to what Camilla was saying to the queen- it's your PM,. You just jumped in with another Welsh snipe

rosesarered Fri 11-Sept-15 09:06:37

A Welsh snipe, isn't that a kind of duck?

rosesarered Fri 11-Sept-15 09:07:33

It's called humour AB.grin
