Gagagran I'm pleased you said that because after some time spent googling duck identification I too thought they could be Goldeneyes, but wasn't sure. I didn't know about the tree nesting, so that bit of info more or less clinches it I reckon!

When I was a child my mother used to sing the words of a different hymn to this piece. I can't find a recording of it, but these are the words

Thank you for this Ash! So beautiful. It was my beloved father's favourite piece of music and we had the hymn at his funeral. Still makes me weepy even 20 years after his death.

That was stunning Ash Tree - I love the hymn too. I think the ducks are probably Goldeneyes - they nest in trees in Scandanavia.

Oh I'm so pleased you enjoyed it roseq. The video is so lovely isn't it? I wondered about the ducks too - not sure which species they are, but looked at images of eider ducks and I don't think that's what they are. This is going to bug me now
