Watching Tom Kerridge just now.

He is a very talented and inventive chef, but why does BEEB give him the stupid laugh.

Ditto Clare Balding.

I remember on Fri nights the comedy shows , R4 with canned laughter.

We are not that dumb BBC, we pay your inflated salaries!

We really really need that finger down throat icon!

To me that's what is wrong with a lot of programmes from the USA- really don't like canned laughter.

I love Tom Kerridge and have never noticed his laugh confused

Are you saying that the BBC dubs Tom Kerridge and Clare Balding's own laughter, jollyg? confused

Ana Mon 30-Mar-15 18:05:27

i.e. their own aren't 'stupid' enough...?
I don't get it.

Surely they can't dub laughter on to individuals?

I hate canned laughter. I don't understand why some programme makers insist on using it. When a programme is recorded in front of a live audience at the the laughter is in the right place and changes according to the joke. Canned laughter is the same whether it's a verbal joke or slapstick.

I would have thought it unlikely. Perhaps jollyg just means they are told by the producers to laugh in a certain way?

Canned laughter should be ended right now.It spoils all sorts of programmes.

MiniMouse Mon 30-Mar-15 18:41:54

There should be a law against canned laughter!
