Oh no!
My Sky+HD box was frozen when I came home from work this morning. We followed all the steps given by the on-line forum to no avail. The thing is as dead as a dodo. I don't feel like renewing my subscription and am considering freesat. Do any of you have freesat? If so how do you find it?
Any other suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks!

I am also annoyed that I have lost everything I recorded over Christmas!!

I have freesat - I don't watch most of the channels as I don't watch a lot of TV (which is why I have never bothered with Sky). There are all the usual channels as well as lots of news channels. There are also some shopping channels which I sometimes look at (but never buy anything!) I certainly find it sufficient for my needs.

I presume you have unplugged the whole thing tv and all ? that usually resets ours . If ours died I definitely wouldn't get another , all those channels and nothing worth watching over Christmas sad

I can't record anything on my Sky+ box now. Every time I set it to record it announces 'FAILED' afterwards. So frustrating. As you say - there is so little of any value on the TV nowadays, just endless repeats. And as for those awful American sit coms with unbelievable characters and sets! Grr!!

As aggie says, you often have to unplug and restart it. If all else fails ring Sky as the fault could be the box.I have to say I am glad we have Sky + HD and I enjoy a bit of tv watching later in the evening when it's often not the right sort of light to read by. The Sky people have always been helpful [to us] at any rate.

We have sky (everything but the movie option) for the sport, particularly football and cricket. We have ours insured (properly, not via some random phone call!) and currently we have two contracts with them. One is left over from when DS1 lived with us and the other DC bounce back so regularly that we've never got round to cancelling the second.

We've done the rebuild thing from the forum as well as switching it off at the wall and swearing a lot. grin

Tried everything, including very techno son. He couldn't get it working either, and if he fails you might as well throw in the towel. He reckons that the hard drive is finished. Tomorrow I'm going to cancel my contract and go for a freesat box. We will shop around. You never know, there may be bargains to be had in the January sales.
Thank you for the help everyone.

We had this problem but updated the software on the box following a short video we found on the internet. It did work. We have sky phone and broadband so the package with the TV made sense at the time. We find the internet connection of the smart TV really useful and we can always watch missed programmes on I player, and we have netflix which we have made good use of.
