Evening all, wondering what others think of the decision to give over Radio 4 to War & Peace, hours and hours of it, almost to the exclusion of other items? Yes, there will be alternatives on Long wave (who has access to that since the big push to get us all onto digital radios?) and of course the Archers will still be broadcast as usual (don't think the Beeb could take much more flak from Archers listeners, after the recent moanfest about the plot lines!)
Now, I only have 1 TV in the house, in the sitting room, and we don't usually "go through" until around 7.30pm, as we have a very nice kitchen dining room and spend most of the day in there with Radio 4 on.
Although I don't consider myself a Philistine, I really don't fancy a whole day of Tolstoy, so we will probably end up watching tv.
Yes, there are other Radio stations, although I don't much care for music channels, would rather choose what I would like to listen to, and I fully understand that tv isn't compulsory, but what I am getting at is the decision to devote almost a whole day to something that may be seen as a minority interest programme.
I will be interested to hear your thoughts and opinions!
