Did you see the first in this run of programmes on BBC. Olivia Coleman was as usual wonderful as was Alison Steadman- very moving stuff- wonder how often that kind of thing goes on?

Marelli Tue 09-Sept-14 14:19:06

I thought it was very good, suebailey1. I think they're both such good actresses.

I really enjoyed it. Worrying slightly for me as I have been told that I remind people of Alison Steadman (I don't think so but 'they' do) and Olivia Coleman always reminds me of my youngest DD. Hope its not an omen. confused Luckily she isn't a vet.

Just watched The Dilemma. So very moving and well acted.

I only wish that if I am ever in that position, I could be helped off this mortal coil with no comeback for my family. I suspect it will be many years before this is allowed by law.

I am fed up with the medical profession saying that pain can be managed, when I know very well for some people it is far from an easy end.

I was left very confused by the one about the possible dodgy husband to be and the wedding, didn't the bride and her sister 'run off' in the car? The next scene she was being carried over the threshold by her husband. Then later standing in a 'daze' by the gate. He was being quite aggressive to her at the time. Was the story that he was the man who had raped her and she had just realised? Help please. I feel I need to watch it again to 'get' it.

I started to watch the first one but it was so miserable, and the theme so hackneyed, I swithched off. Perhaps will try the second one.

Have just re-watched the Conversation and came out of it non the wiser.
Absolutely confused, maybe that's what the writer wanted, who knows?

Good luck with that jingles

You've cheered me up no end, Flower! I was so confused by that one I was beginning to think I was losing more brain cells than ever!
I wasn't that impressed with last night's either, I'll give tonight's a chance and maybe give up on them after that. There's enigmatic and there's downright baffling!Perhaps I'm too stupid to tell the difference.

Coolgran65 Wed 10-Sept-14 18:09:53

I was confused also about the bride. Couldn't get it at all. Hubby definitely had another side.
And last night's was drear.
Yep, baffling.

I thought the one with the bride, implied that the sister and husband had had a liaison. She had introduced the couple, but said she hardly knew him. The sister wanted the bride to run away because she felt guilty.
The tension between them, when he went into her room suggested a relationship, then the wife walked into the room, giving her doubts.
I accept I could be completely wrong! X

Just watched that one (the bride). Yes. Think it was something along those lines j52. But totally confused really.

Having another go at the miserable one now.

Tonights was no better, I love the actors, a good and talented bunch. I was left hoping that the guy would stay with the wife but then felt sorry for the 'other' woman who, apparently he left the wife for. But then Freddy, who had a blood test for what we do not know, was younger than the little girl of the Wife. Not that that means anything. How on earth do they think they can 'carry on as before'? I think the wife had the best idea, I would run a hundred mile if I was her. And didn't the 'other woman' overreact with the Wife was looking at the baby. For goodness sake she need only have been looking in as she heard him cry. All a bit strange if you ask me. Will see what Friday's offering brings. I await with baited breath.

They were all a bit slow I thought, and the bride episode left me totally confused. Really not sure what they are all about, or perhaps I am looking too deeply into them.

NanKate Thu 11-Sept-14 15:25:00

Thought the first one brilliant - so moving.

Can't make head nor tail of the Bride. hmm

Is the third one worth watching ?

Flowerofthewest Thu 11-Sept-14 19:49:19

Think its the fifth? there was the one about the mother and daughter, one about the sister and brother and the one about the bride and last nights about the deceitful husband, there is another on Friday

jinglbellsfrocks Thu 11-Sept-14 19:57:02

I watched several back to back on catch-up last night. I enjoyed them apart from the bride one. Agree the counseller wife over-reacted about the baby.

I even found the one with the dying mother very moving once I made myself watch it properly.

I think I've got one left to watch.
