Strictly - shall you?

Juts read the article in RT (in Smiths don't buy it) re Strictly Come Dancing and it looks dire - no Brucie and a guest list of no-one I have ever heard of except that coarse fruit and veg man and Andy Murray's sour faced mother.
I suppose I will get sucked in but I think its a record and wiz through job now - I like watching the professional dancers but can't stand the rubbish that Tess talks.
Will you be watching?

pompa Sun 26-Oct-14 19:52:28

This is turning into a farce yet again, spoils the programme for me. Why can't the judges just refuse to kick either couple out.

Anya Sun 26-Oct-14 19:50:02

Pathetic that two good dancers are in the dance off when people like Alison, Scott and Judy are still in.

Charleygirl Mon 20-Oct-14 12:22:49

Tim does appear to be a very nice person and that was a lovely speech he gave. I think that Natalie is fond of him in the nicest possible way and may remain a friend of the family which is rather nice.

I think next weekend it may be between Judy and Scott and with luck Scott will go.

I thought that Claudia would get on my nerves as much as Bruce did but so far she hasn't, or at least not to the same extent. At least she is being told to cut the chatter by her bosses.

That's it exactly - Private Pike!

I didn't like the Lady Gaga/Tony Bennett duet. I thought he sang pretty well but - because they were trying to synchronise with each other - there were timing issues. I don't like Lady Gaga anyway.

Teetime Mon 20-Oct-14 12:12:51

We thought Scott's impression of Private Pike is hilarious!
Please put Judy out of her misery and ours.

HollyDaze Mon 20-Oct-14 12:05:43

Scott should have gone - his performance was abysmal (not that Tim's was much better but it was a bit better).

I felt a bit disappointed in Lady Gaga's performance - she started off well but seemed to end up screeching at times which isn't her usual style.

Jane10 Mon 20-Oct-14 09:19:38

Definitely agree Scott should go. Cant think who`s voting for him. Maybe people who`ve heard of him before Strictly? (elderly miaouw!)
I think Claudia and Tess are getting better and better. With Tess as the straight one and Claudia as the cheeky, daft one its a good combination. I know not everyone thinks that though. Its a 2 hour live show -anything could happen. They are professional and make it all seem to go smoothly and I bet there are hiccups we are never aware of. This requires a huge amount of professionalism. Those girls have it in spades and make it look effortless. Go girls!

Anya Mon 20-Oct-14 08:24:28

Yes, I agree he was joshing her Nvella and that's what sons do. The tango suited Judy better but I can't believe her when she says the Charleston (next week) is her dance. I feel sorry for Aljaz - hope he doesn't attempt any lifts!

PRINTMISS Mon 20-Oct-14 08:08:51

I wondered there for a minute Nvella! Personally I thought that Scott should have been off and the dance-off ought to have been between him and Tim. Tim is a nice bloke, and what a lovely speech he made didn't he. Why on earth we have to have Americans performing on these occasions I have no idea - surely we have British singers/musicians who could entertain us. I think it is still a wide open field as to who can stand the pressure.

Nvella Mon 20-Oct-14 01:12:52

I meant my sons!

Nvella Mon 20-Oct-14 01:12:26

I thought he was just joshing her. My dons are always teasing me like that

papaoscar Sun 19-Oct-14 23:30:04

Tony Bennett 88? Can't believe it. There is hope for us all!

Ana Sun 19-Oct-14 22:44:36

Was Claudia there tonight? I didn't see her...

I agree that Lady Gaga was good, but I thought Tony Bennett was OK too. Can't believe Judy's still there, it does seem like some sort of fix to me!

NanKate Sun 19-Oct-14 22:29:26

I agree Pompa that Lady Gaga exceeded expectations.

Yes Jing I noticed that Brendan looked a bit porky round the middle

Now to Tess and Claudia - their chat is absolutely abysmal. E.g. Tess says to everyone 'come on over to me my darling' and she and Claudia describe all the contestants as 'wonderful' even if they were cr**

I think the producer of the show should somehow get all their dialogue from the latest show and get them to listen to themselves and see how they use the same phrases over and over again.

No wonder I now watch the videod version of the show so I can obliterate their endless babble.

I know I know - I should switch the show off and leave those who like the chat to watch it. I do enjoy the dancing though and most of the feedback from the judges. Rant over.

I admit to having a sift spot for Tony Bennett. He was my late grandads favourite "crooner" and I love him too. DS and DDiL are seeing Lady Ga ga in Manchester in Tuesday and I admit to feelinga teeny weeny bit jealous. She has such a good voice.

I thought It was a toss up between Scott and Judy to go tonight (both were terrible) I think perhaps Judy is under contract to stay for a few more weeks (the Scottish vote perhaps??) I was warming towards Tim, he does seem like a nice man.

Charleygirl Sun 19-Oct-14 20:44:38

I agree, I cannot understand why Scott is still there and I do not think that he could believe it either! The expression on his face showed that he thought that he was a goner.

merlotgran Sun 19-Oct-14 20:08:51

Scott should have gone.

annodomini Sun 19-Oct-14 20:06:37

Last night I was sure it had to be Tim because his paso was just utterly dire. But Mark's presence in the dance-off was one of those anomalies that often happen in Strictly and justice was done anyway. Wasn't it touching when Mark referred to Tim as one of the nicest men he'd ever met? They all seem to be getting along well this year. My dark horse - maybe not so dark now - is Caroline, though Thom has really come out of his shell and is proving to be a very good dancer.

pompa Sun 19-Oct-14 19:43:54

Why oh Why does Tony Bennett still perform, he was a wonderful singer, but his voice is a shadow of its former self. It made me sad listening to him tonight. Lady GaGa was much better than I had expected, she carried the performance.

Lona Sat 18-Oct-14 22:56:56

It's contentment jings wink

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 18-Oct-14 22:32:05

Brendan is putting weight on. No wonder his trousers split.

numberplease Sat 18-Oct-14 22:28:12

As I said last week, and was proved so wrong, it`s between Scott, Tim and Judy for the bottom 2 this week. I`ll probably be proved wrong again! I thought that Frankie, Thom and Simon were the best this week.

merlotgran Sat 18-Oct-14 19:20:16

Andy Murray on Skype was his usual charmless self. All the years his mother has been there to support him and he comes out with a not unexpected sarcastic comment.

I feel like voting for her now!!

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 15-Oct-14 17:56:25

Yes Anno. smile And I wondered if the applause was more for them than for the singer.

numberplease Wed 15-Oct-14 16:41:50

It would have been a very nice rendering, if my mind hadn`t kept going back to Danny Williams singing it years ago (and yes, I DO mean Danny, not Andy, Williams). My second daughter was a massive Donnie fan in the mid 70s, everything she wore had to be purple, Donnie`s favourite colour!
