Countryfile. does anyone else....

Enjoyed tonight as I used to live in the Sefton Coast so knew all the places visited and even knew the old shrimper, Gerald, who lived around the corner from us.

Adam is a bit much I agree.

DGS 2yrs and non verbal got very excited by the tractor. Which involved pointing and oooohing at the screen I'll have you know

I can understand that.

I watch it for the weather forecast.

I do actually like Adam. He's quite sexy.

And the baby cows were nice. I wonder how far they would have kept running if that field had not been fenced.

And in what direction?

Yes. Very sweet.

It is a bit like play school. Very simple - except that Adam keeps forgetting and using Big Words.

And it annoys me intensely the way they keep jumping around from one place to another - and then spend minutes reminding us what we saw five minutes ago.

I just think it is a nice relaxing programme to watch on a Sunday evening. Some of it is very informative, and so much of our countryside is beautiful I should like to think the programme encourages us to visit places we would never even consider at one time - although I realise it is not meant to be a holiday guide.

I do like it. Pleasant, informative family viewing. No (human) sex, scandal, violence or car chases.
However I wish they would just deal with one item in once chunk and not do this gimmicky thing where they start to cover a subject and then say "we'll be coming back later to see how Adams new turkeys settled down in their new home". We do have a span of attention that lasts more than 3.5 minutes. It's the same team that produce Springwatch isn't it. You can tell... But on those programmes the technique fits better with the format.

Agree Jess. It would be a lot more relaxing if they didn't keep jumping around all over the place. I have written and complained that it doesn't make the programme more exciting (DH still sleeps through most of it) and could they please stop it - but my valuable opinion was ignored!
The cynical side of me wonders if it's laziness on the producer's part as all the "later we'll find out how Adam's turkey's......" And "previously we saw how Adam's turkeys ....." fill in quite a few minutes of programme.

I'm not knocking it. Not at all. I like the programme. No, it just fleetingly brought back the 'round window'.

Adam is my favourite on there - he obviously knows his stuff and doesn't talk down to us. I'd be happy to see him do a much bigger segment. He makes farming interesting and informative.

I'm glad Julia Bradbury has gone over to the dark side - I found her far too "gung ho" for my liking.

I'm not that keen on Ellie as I find her a bit gung-ho!

Adam is lovely and I like it when Jules graces it with his presence. I quite like the environment bloke - Tom something possibly.

We usually have it, and Antiques Roadshow, on while catching up with the Sunday papers!

I agree, JessM. I suppose it is to keep you enthralled and watching to see what happens next!! The suspense is unbearable.

I do enjoy it, especially if it is from an area I know. Nice easy watching for a Sunday.

People I know took their children camping on Adam's farm and said it was very enjoyable.

Compared to some of the rubbish which is on television, Countryfile is an oasis of peace and is also informative. I love it.

Love it too- and keeps me in touch with the English countryside- which is lovely.

Adams farm is not far from where I live [you can go and visit but don't think it's free!] I do like Countryfile, but agree with all the 'jumping about' however I think it's because some viewers won't be interested in turkeys [or whatever] so they don't want to make each segment overlong in case we lose interest!

Reminds me that there are still many parts of the UK where you can escape from urbanism.

Yes, Tricia, DD1 who is visiting with Australian SIL is pointing out to him as we go around that Britain is not wall-to-wall houses, contrary to what a lot of Australians think!

Even South of Watford people in the UK think the Midlands are covered with factories and housing wall to wall!!! From where we lived in East Leics, we could drive East to the coast and not come across any industry or towns- just by-passing Peterborough.. I am always surprised when British people say UK is 'full to the brim'- as there are huge swathes with just a few houses and villages for 100s of miles- away from West Midlands and darn sourf.

When I moved to Devon someone I worked with thought anywhere north of Bristol to The Wash was coast to coast terraced houses.
