Anyone else seen this? Excellent acting and a good story (based on truth) and doesn't exactly inspire confidence in the medics and big pharma 're treatment with AZT in the 1980s when HIV first came on the scene. In fact it's an interesting take on the role of alternative therapies.

Matthee McConnaughy is superb and so is Jared Leno.

Jared Leto not Leno.

It's had great reviews I noticed. Apparently McConnaughy lost 3 stone over the course of the filming, to the point he was almost skeletal, in his attempt to make his part as authentic as possible.

Yes MM is almost unrecognisable. He acts his heart out in this film, totally believable.

I saw this film on Saturday night. It was excellent and I can highly recommend it. Have to agree that it was a first class performance by Matthew McConnaughy. How on earth did he manage to lose that much weight Aka ? It did make the part very authenic as he looked like he was genuinely very ill. It was one of those films that makes you want to laugh and cry at the same time.

He may have lost a lot of weight, but his hair was still thick and glossy and teeth American perfect. Hardly a genuine Aids patient! Did anyone see a brilliant Swedish film on BBC Four recently called Never Wipe Tears Without Gloves. That did show what Aids does to people and was incredibly moving. I am getting quite concerned by the way studios make actors pile on the pounds or lose them. Tom Hanks in Saving Mr Banks for instance, when they had previously made him go skeletal for Castaway. It must play havoc with their health and seems highly irresponsible to me.
