I sat up late to watch the first episode and rather enjoyed it. Anybody agree?

I'm enjoying this. I like the Athos and Porthos characters and that Milady is so naughty.

Aramis was Lancelot in Merlin. Sigh.

Yes - I still have my copy of Le Collier de la Reine somewhere, which came afterwards, but not sure I could be bothered to plough my way through it all again nowadays. However if my memory serves me correctly, it was about the queen's relationship with Buckingham, and how they had to cover it up, so I am not sure how far they are intending to take a supposed relationship with Aramis.

The novel may have been written as a serial, so quite adaptable for television, but I suspect that Dumas Père would draw the line at ploocemin speak.

Here's a thought. D'Artangnan played by Peter Sellers in the manner of Inspector Clouseau, with the others doing it like the 'ploocemin' gendarme in 'allo,'allo!

Yes. It was a bit. Might improve.

I found it soooo boring, all brawn and no brain.

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 25-Jan-14 20:50:41

grin It's coming back. Was popular.

Has Atlantis finished? Bums!

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 25-Jan-14 17:54:08

Wonder what happened to Bradley James (Arthur).

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 25-Jan-14 17:52:54

Atlantis had just started to grow on me when it finished. I think The Musketeers will make a good replacement for Merlin. I know it's not quite the same. But a bit similar.

I'm with Aka. He's a lovely little lad! I quite enjoyed it. Loved Merlin, hated that things about Atlantis (I think). I thought this was somewhere in between but we're going to look in on the next one.

Who cares about the script, story line or other production issues? Let's just have lots of close ups of that lovely D'Artagnan.

seasider Tue 21-Jan-14 22:12:01

Nice eye candy but very cheap production that looks like it has been made for the American market. Not usual BBC standard.

I don't mind a swap or sharing kitty seems like there's plenty to go around! wink

kittylester Tue 21-Jan-14 16:38:10

Lona will you stop stealing all the best looking - it's a really selfish thing to do grin

gma Tue 21-Jan-14 16:11:51

Loved Musketeers ! Just what I need on a Sunday night! It does the not so old heart good!!Can't beat a pair of leather trousers , a floaty shirt open to the waist, and a little facial hair! Roll on next Sunday! I need another fix! wink

Deedaa Mon 20-Jan-14 22:08:59

Not a bad effort so far. A bit heavy on the music (much preferred the Berlioz they used in the 1964 series) DH was impressed because they got the guns right! I don't think he's ever watched anything without complaining about the guns so this was a real surprise!

Ana Mon 20-Jan-14 20:06:20

Didn't know he'd made any tv programmes! grin

apricot Mon 20-Jan-14 19:50:08

Dumas did it so much better.

Penstemmon Mon 20-Jan-14 19:38:29

Lighthearted to a point..woman being executed not such a laugh!

Lona Mon 20-Jan-14 19:30:22

Just watched it and I loved every leatherclad second of it wink
Bagsy me D'Artagnon!

janerowena Mon 20-Jan-14 17:09:44

I enjoyed the men and the fact that they stayed true to the book, with beautiful architecture, DBH&Son both enjoyed the fighting and the pretty women. We all enjoyed the humour. Something for everyone, I thought. Yes, I would have liked it if they had made a few more Sherlocks instead, but it was a good consolation.

ninathenana Mon 20-Jan-14 16:37:33

Does not appeal at all. Although I do agree with the eye candy comment.

I was enjoying Mr. Selfridge at the time.

durhamjen Mon 20-Jan-14 15:40:00

Having recorded Silent Witness and watching it yesterday afternoon, at least watching the Musketeers allowed me to go to sleep last night, only getting up and checking the doors were locked once during the night.
