I found this got rather unpleasant ased nd tastless last time round.

Emilia will no doubt be pleased that she is getting another chance tonight due to the lack of a decent alternative!

Didn't see tonights episode, Mr P decided he wanted to watch a magic thing on another channel, but must say when I saw another episode recently, she did look a bit on the thin side. There is slim, like wot I used to be, then there is skinny.

I had to have the sub titles on.

This episode is so full of 'weel kent' Scottish actors that it's getting like an episode of Taggart!

Emilia Fox was on Saturday Kitchen Best Bites last weekend. She looked lovely, very slim and her hair looked healthy and lustrous. OK, that was a repeat so she's a bit older now but she's even thinner than the last series and yes, she is beginning to look haggard.

I used to be thin as well [double sigh] Not very long ago my size six granddaughter tried my wedding dress on (size 8) and it looked gorgeous on her.

I thought her character looked about right for an over-worked forensic pathologist. Her roots needed retouching, her mascara was smudged, she looked exhausted. Much more realistic that those bimbo types from 20 years ago who could emerge from the sea with make up intact and whose hair dried perfectly without the aid of even a hair brush.

Why far too thin? She is obviously healthy, has a healthy child, and is making a success of a career. Why is thinness bad? I used to be thin. (sigh)

This series is really good and I agree about Emilia Fox. She is far too thin.

The Ken Bruce lookalike regularly pops up playing a baddy/hard guy. He must be one of Scotland's most employed actors.

jinglbellsfrocks Thu 16-Jan-14 22:39:43

Oh she's lovely! Was a really good one tonight.

I've only watched the first two so far but I thought she looked absolutely skeletal. And you're right Kiora it is terribly aging!

Kiora Thu 16-Jan-14 21:34:55

Does any one else think Emilia Fox looks haggard. The weight loss. Has aged her and her hair looks dry and brittle. She was such an attractive girl.

Better than the last series. At least it's watchable.

I used to despise the gratuitous gore we had before. It should be possible to hold an audience with something other than shock value.

POGS Sun 05-Jan-14 00:46:45

Just watched it.

I don't like the male character, can't remember his name. He is rude, arrogant and if I worked with him he would annoy me intently. What was the point to his ,fighting bout' ??
Not a very realistic character to me.

I quite liked the new boss, at least his acting was less wooden than the actor who played Leo.

If you had a new boss I don't think you would sulk around like they did or try and ignore him surely. Story plot OK but still a bit wooden acting wise by the main payers sadly. Waking the Dead was by far better.

I think Emilia Fox's slender frame is a family trait, they are all very lean. Did enjoy it though and as a bonus (at least for me) The Bridge is on BBC4 tonight so that's my evenings viewing sorted.

Charleygirl Sat 04-Jan-14 15:22:15

merlotgran I thought that I was seeing things but obviously not. At least the start of this series is not as convoluted as the last. I enjoyed this 2 parter and only gave it a go because there was nothing else on and I was fed up with the last series.

merlotgran Sat 04-Jan-14 15:04:30

I couldn't take my eyes off Emiila Fox's hair. She'd go into a room sporting a wavy style and come back out with it straightened. hmm

I have never watched it before but gave it a go due to the fact that there was little else of interest to me. I found it quite complicated and gory but what struck me also were the numerous outfits that Emilia Fox wore, she seemed to have a different one on in almost every change of scene; she is very beautiful though and the new boss is very dishy. Doubt if I will watch it again, violence and crime are not my forte, I would rather read a good book.

Atqui Fri 03-Jan-14 10:36:56

Nelliemoser, I agree-particularly when they keep giving flashbacks....or was that Waking The Dead?

Atqui Fri 03-Jan-14 10:35:29

What happened to the rather gorgeous younger one with dark hair

ninathenana Fri 03-Jan-14 10:00:47

We enjoyed it too. I think the new boss has got off on the wrong foot to put it mildly! It will be interesting to see how long it takes to bring them round, if he ever does. Leo is a hard act to follow.

tiggypiro Fri 03-Jan-14 08:13:49

I was just so pleased that there was something on I wanted to watch and at a time I could watch it and am all set for tonight. I for one love the gory bits ( but not any violence ) probably explained by the fact I may well have inherited some of my mothers genes. She was a theatre sister during the war.

numberplease Fri 03-Jan-14 00:11:05

I thought that tonight`s episode was very good, the first time for several series that we haven`t struggled with poor sound quality, hope that it continues in the same vein.

nuttynana Fri 03-Jan-14 00:01:01

Liked her new hairstyle though and the new boss is rather nice.

Anne58 Thu 02-Jan-14 23:21:00

Mr P and I watched some re-runs of the Amanda Burton witless silence Silent Witness recently, and spent much time giggling and muttering "stares into middle distance" . Well, I did, Mr P's not really the giggling type, more of a hearty chortle chap. Although he has been known to snigger occasionally, but I feel that it's better not to encourage that sort of thing.

Nelliemoser Thu 02-Jan-14 22:39:49

"Prefer" is the wrong word, but you probably know what I mean.
