Anyone else as confused as I am? I enjoyed the programme but think we still haven't been told how he really faked his death, and since when did Sherlock Holmes go around kissing women?

janerowena Thu 02-Jan-14 23:13:53

I didn't find it confusing. I do remember thinking that if anyone had forgotten all the twists from the last episode they would struggle, though. I had to remind DBH of a few things.

I loved it and no, I don't think Moriarty is dead!

rosesarered Fri 03-Jan-14 18:45:29

I'm looking forward to next episode. I haven't heard of Worlds End Flower I shall have to look out for that one, how nice for you that it was filmed in your home town.I think Mycroft gets all the best lines, and funnily enough I can hear every word he says, but I do struggle to hear Sherlock and Watson at times.I was dubious at frirst about a modern day Sherlock Holmes but after a shaky start [first episode] then I liked it.By that I mean the first ever episode not the one the other night.

threesugars a lot of the underground mistakes were a bit technical, but one was that the train has to be a certain length or the automatic systems won't let it run, so unhitching a carriage would be impossible. Of course the disused station doesn't exist and the fact that they mixed up stations and different types of train..... nothing that would worry the average viewer.
DH watched it in the control room of the Bakerloo Line and they just pulled it to pieces...

NfkDumpling Fri 03-Jan-14 22:34:21

Well, we only just watched it, and I thought it was great! It is pretend after all - isn't it?

Deedaa Fri 03-Jan-14 23:41:58

Pittcity your DH should get together with mine and my SiL. Between them they could take apart the underground system, guns and planes and wreck almost any film ever made. grin

We watched the New Year's Day episode again yesterday and it was better the second time round. But did anyone else notice that Sherlock's parents were BC's own parents so it was a bit of an in-joke? Both actors but not credited so perhaps he slipped them in to trump Watson's real life wife? Are a pair of parents equal to or more than one wife?

rosesarered Sat 04-Jan-14 14:41:52

Well done mollie for finding this out; I had no idea.Obviously done just for fun [parents] but if Watson's wife is to have a large role then it smacks of nepotism doesn't it? Not such fun.

mollie Sat 04-Jan-14 16:48:09

I'm disappointed they've introduced a wife into the equation and at the choice of actress. Nepotism or not I went off her (name escapes me) when she declared bankruptcy for a relatively small amount of money while she has a husband who admitted he could have cleared her debt easily. Pride's fine but I think she owed tax money...

Lilygran Sat 04-Jan-14 16:56:20

Watson has a wife in the Conan Doyle stories. And given all the acting families around, I don't think it's fair to talk about nepotism in the theatre. Whoever they are related to, they won't make it very far if they are no good. So much luck involved at the start.

mollie Sat 04-Jan-14 17:10:00

Good point! I think there were three Fox's in one episode of Lewis so the charge of nepotism is withdrawn.

I knew there was a Mrs Watson in the original stories but did she feature in person? I don't recall...

Lilygran Sat 04-Jan-14 18:06:20

Mary Morstan. She was the daughter of Holmes's client in The Sign of Four, I think.

rosesarered Sun 05-Jan-14 16:53:45

No, the nepotism still stands! Just because it's done a lot, doesn't mean it's right.

tattynan Sun 05-Jan-14 20:19:48

Enjoyed this episode but sorry BBC prefer Elementary on Sky.

feetlebaum Sun 05-Jan-14 21:04:39

Can't be doing with American series...Barbie dolls with luminous teeth waving guns about... Haven't forgiven then for what they did to Torchwood!

Ana Sun 05-Jan-14 21:10:07

'Sherlock' isn't an American series, feetlebaum...confused

Lilygran Sun 05-Jan-14 22:20:01

Elementary is, though. Really enjoyed tonight's Sherlock. Best man from Hell. Weird murder method. Locked door mystery. Sherlock dances!

jinglbellrocks Sun 05-Jan-14 22:42:52

Yes. Good one tonight. Haven't been a Sherlock fan before. That could change.

Versavisa Mon 06-Jan-14 10:09:20

Really good episode I thought. Even DH loved it and he usually struggles to follow the plot.

I have really enjoyed all of the series and I am sad to think there is only one more episode. Nothing else comes close to it for mental stimulation, acting, production, plot and ingenuity.

Unless you can recommend something else I might like?

annodomini Mon 06-Jan-14 10:42:04

It was hilarious! grin

sunseeker Mon 06-Jan-14 10:46:40

I actually felt uncomfortable for Sherlock in his not knowing what to do in a social situation - shows how good the acting was. I do love this programme and its a shame the series only has 3 episodes. I think Benedict Cumberbatch's portrayal of Sherlock Holmes is brilliant - what a good actor.

soop Mon 06-Jan-14 10:57:16

Benedict Cumberpatch is Sherlock. I love him. One of the best dramas on television by a mile. grin

jinglbellrocks Mon 06-Jan-14 11:12:44

Only one more episode?!!!

I'm late to the party again.hmm

Soutra Mon 06-Jan-14 11:32:54

Queue here for the Cumberbitches grin
I loved it and just might watch it sgain this afternoon while doing the ironing- eat your heart out Kirstie Allsopp!

soop Mon 06-Jan-14 11:36:21

Soutra Cumberpatch versus Allsopp...*No contest* wink
