Sorry folks I thought it was dull dull dull.

I hated it. Couldn't wait for it to finish. I would have left the cinema but my OH wouldn't. Loved Hugh Jackman though. Felt the same about the stage production.

Same here, although I would like to see the stage version [I think I'd enjoy that].

I saw the stage version years ago - I really didn't like it but I feel I am in the minority here as it has been running for years with great success. The reason I went to see the film was because I thought I must have been wrong about the stage version. Just not my cup of tea I suppose.

It's a Marmite situation - you either love it or hate it. I hate Marmite; but loved Les Mis, even the film, which is, admittedly, a pale shadow of the stage show.

I agree a Anno I enjoyed the film but it was not a patch on the stage show !

I was looking forward to the stage show, saw an excellent production but can't say it met my expectations. South Pacific on the other hand - fantastic. When a sniffy teen criticising anything my parents liked, I didn't realise how many stereotypes the musical demolished.

I saw stage version at Bristol hippodrome several years ago and even though very long I enjoyed it thoroughly. So much so that I have no wish or intention to see the film.Snippets I've seen confirm this .
