Does anyone else remember a Blue Peter appeal, around 1959 -ish, poss in conjunction with RSPCA, where they were appealing for new homes for homeless dogs? We definitely got one, and called him Sandy. My father was a soldier and was at the barracks, my mum at work as a cleaner. Two men in a van, came with the dog to my school, and I was allowed home with them to take the dog in. Luckily, my mother was at home by this time. Don't think this would happen now, I was only about 6 at the time!! But I can't find anyone else who remembers this, they just think I'm delusional! confused

sheilayd I don't think you are delusional at all I am sure that the RSPCA at the time did not have the red tape that they have now, when we adopted our JR 4yrs ago I had to supply practically everything except my bloodgroup to get him,but I do think it is a good thing they have to make sure you can care for an animal,I wonder if then (late 50's) there was not as much pressure on people to have their dogs spayed as there is now ??
