No Corrie again

Geatnan and Eloethan - yes, some great tv with enough variety for everyone. I don't watch a lot, but I love Corrie, channel 4 news is good and last year, Last Tango in Halifax, Broadchurch - fabulous. I also enjoy the history programmes, and watched bbc 2 on Hitler last night. Chilling. A secret vice are the dog training programmes... I loved Dog Borstal which seems to have disappeared.

I agree Greatnan. There is a lot of rubbish but there's also good drama, documentaries, current affairs programmes, etc.

I like Corrie - though I draw the line at Eastenders which I gave up watching a few years ago as I felt it was becoming increasingly unpleasant.

I no longer try to justify my choice of TV programmes to anybody else. I don't know how anybody can say that it is all rubbish, when there are so many wonderful programmes - wildlife, travel, history, politics, drama and, yes, soaps. The plots are no more far fetched than those of most operas! And it is seems daft to criticise programmes that you have never watched!
I don't think I am 'intellectually challenged' and I think there is a lot of snobbery involved in people who claim never to watch certain types of programmes.
Let's hear it for our great UK TV!

Ana ditto,and take the dog for a quick wee, his bladder clock is set for 8pm and then last one at 11pm so it comes in handy that 1/2 hr break.

Not a soap fan, but what annoys me about Corrie is that sometimes there is half an hour of it, then another programme, then another half hour.
What's the point of that?

I am genuinely interested, Feetlebaum, not narked by your correcting me. What word do you use in normal conversation when describing what I would call the constituent countries of the UK?

Darned football.. gggggrrrrrr !!!! Tthe BBC are usually the ones doing sport to death, and now ITV are at it as well. Endless sport should be on a different channel.

Particularly annoying here in Scotland where we didn't get Corrie either. Nor did we get the football, only an old episode of Taggart. Apparently the soaps must be shown at the exact same time UK wide but not necessarily the rest of the schedule. At least English Viewers had the consolation that their team won [congratulations].

I'm a Corrie fan, and though it's such a sad story line, it is giving the actors who play Hayley and Roy a chance to show how good they are (at acting). The Hayley actor is in a play at Manchester's Royal Exchange in February. Hope to see her in that. I'm also keen to see how the evil Karl gets his comeuppance, as he will no doubt.
We were at the wedding of very good friends yesterday and then at the evening do later. This meant there was no need for conflict here about who watched what, when - we watched nothing. I'm looking forward to a double dose on Sunday evening.
Anno - I think you can catch up with Corrie the same evening, on itv 3. I'm a football fan, but I agree, put the footi on one of the other channels, and leave Corrie alone!

Now there's a culture clash if ever there was one: Corrie v Football. Nowadays you'd think they could put the footie on the red button since everyone has digital TV. Or put it on ITV 2, 3 or 4!

More real than England, which is only part of the country, which is The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland... Mind you, I didn't know about Moldova either.

Corrie is the only soap I watch.
There is now an hour long episode on Sunday to replace those taken off.
It drives me bonkers when they do that. We are usually out on a Sunday
evening and if I hadn't happened to notice I would have missed it. I know -
it's hardly earth shattering but I love Corrie - a bit of escapism is what I need sometimes.

Yes, I sat down for a bit of Corrie too and had a proper strop when I found out it wasn't on. My husband tells me that the England-Moldova match was a biggie.

Well.....
a) I didn't even know Moldova was a real country
b) the match didn't start till 8, so couldn't we have had one shot of Corrie at least?
c) Hayley Cropper's dying, for Pete's sake and
d) he was asleep before half-time.

The only soap I watch is Doctors and I know that will be off for the whole of Wimbledon and any other afternoon sporting event. Eggheads regularly makes way for football, cricket, golf, tennis, athletics! Couldn't more use be made of BBC3 & 4 for sporting events?

but I do agree! I sat down to watch Emmerdale...and then a bit of Corrie (yes we do need to escape now and then) and I also was disappointed..tut!! hence popped in here....

Thanks for that biker but just fancied the TV to-night there is nothing exciting on even when I scroll through the channels,well nothing that takes my interest anyway going to get my book and disappear to bed.

I don't always watch the soaps but to-night I got myself all sorted and plonked myself down with remote and telephone near by (someone always rings when I sit down for some reason)I get through Emmerdale and then football "oh didn't I tell you" says he ? "no you bl---in well didn't" "well it is your favourite manager that handsome Portugese bloke you like" "well I don't like him to-night I wanted to watch Corrie" so now in kitchen on my stool with my friendly lap-top.

I'm not a fan of the soaps but it does infuriate me that the programmers assume everyone wants to watch some sporting event.
