These two presenters have become tabloid fodder sinces blotting their copybooks. Apparently the BBC are having crisis talks about GW's future since he lumped someone in a restaurant.

It may be my imagination but there no longer seems to be quite the same rapport between Mary Berry and PH since his split with his wife and if it were not for Mel and Sue doing a 'Morecambe and Wise,' this series of Bake Off would appear quite sombre.

Given that Paul and Greg have handsome salaries (paid by us) and have developed massive egos as a result, should they keep their jobs? Mary Berry is supposed to have said she will leave Bake Off if PH is sacked. She doesn't exactly need the dosh and is alleged to have brushed off his adultery saying, Boys will be boys.' She doesn't seem as relaxed this series though.

I can't see why it's anybody's business - except his wife's - if a presenter has had an affair.

If it's true that Mary Berry made the remark "boys will be boys", I think that's a better reason for sacking someone. (calm down, I'm joking!). Firstly, we're not talking about boys but men and, secondly, such comments have been used to justify all sorts of predatory male behaviour on the grounds that, poor things, "they just can't help themselves".

I read somewhere that she did not say it at all, but a reporter inserted it into a report of an interview with her. I think it was in the Radio Times.

Not the interview, the mention of the interview.

I wonder if they ever stop and think their lucrative contracts might be in jeapordy though?

They won't be the first celebs to find themseves on a slippery slope if the ratings fall.

The only thing I can think of when I see these reports of these two having affairs and evidently being irresistable to women, is that I must be quite odd (o.k. I am!), because I do not find either of them particularly good-looking, or attractive in their attitude. I don't think their private lives should affect their salaries, but I do not think they deserve what they are paid, certainly the case with Greg, and one wonders if it is the salary rather than the man that attracts.

"So what attracted you to the multi millionaire Paul Daniels?" grin

PRINTMISS Sat 31-Aug-13 07:24:54

"Oh! is he rich then?" shock

Whenever I see Paul Daniels I think of that Mrs Merton interview with the hapless Debbie McGee! I can see that there's something vaguely attractive about PH, (in a reptilian way!), but GW! yuk! grin

I loved the winner of a caption competition in the Mail yesterday. It had Mary Berry saying to PH, 'Shall we leave the hot Mexican Tart until later in the show?' grin

Deedaa Sat 31-Aug-13 18:49:21

Actually however rude we are about Paul Daniells and Debbie they have stayed together haven't they?

I'm going to be waiting hopefully for the Hot Mexican Tart In every show now! grin

hummingbird Sat 31-Aug-13 19:13:24

Oh I don't think we're being rude at all about PD! I also admire that fact they've stayed together for so long! smile

You are quite right about Paul and Debbie, and they often poked fun at themselves didn't they, which always helps when others are making odd remarks as they did at one time. I have no idea what the Hot Mexican Tart is all about, don't watch the programme, but find I have gone off Mary Berry. I used to watch her afternoon programmes in the distant past, and enjoyed those, but she seems to have got stardust in her eyes recently. Fair enough she is doing a grand job, and still looks good, but being over-commercialised I think. I am a right old misery this morning smile

The Hot Mexican Tart is a reference to Paul Hollywood's affair with his co-presenter of the American version of Bake Off. It flopped and his wife is divorcing him.
