I'm obsessed with this programme [and it's not just because of Michael Woo]. It just brings history to life; I mean, he was even in Derby in tonight's programme...in fact, he's been just about everywhere; why haven't any of us bumped into him [sigh]? He was walking down Sadler Gate; why wasn't I shopping that day sad. Even the music is so Lordoftherings'ish...

Haven't seen it. What channel ? When? Please

Tegan Tue 13-Aug-13 22:43:17

BBC4; just finished [repeated in the early hours]. Episode 2 tonight. It's on iplayer. Michael Woo; Michael Wood's Chinese cousin; another typo blush.

It's repeated Thursday 10.15.

Shame he gave up wearing jeans because we were all ogling him smile

Still am; he's not put any weight on, has he? I haven't really liked the tv stuff he's done recently but I'm enjoying this series..it's the way he makes places like Godalming [bless you] and Wolverhampton so glamorous [and Derby]. I love the way Queen whateverhenameis was described as a 'peaceweaver', as were most of the influential women in history [except Helen of Troy, I suppose].

I was really disappointed that King Alfred was born in Wantage, where I live, and there'a a lovely statue of him in the market place, but Michael Wood didn't give it a mention. I agree that this is his best series for some time.

It's not on my bbc4.
