She's had her knuckles rapped for agreeing to go on 'I'm a Celebrity GMOOH'
Remember our web chat with Anne Widdicombe? She nominated Nadine Dorries as an up and coming battleaxe.
Not a programme I normally watch but I might have a nosey to see if she's as tough as she should be.

I usually watch the first one to see who's on and then the last one to see who wins. Can't be bothered with the rest of it. Surely it's run its course by now?

gracesmum Very well said! Anyone prepared to take part on a so-called reality show, has to be a prime twit! hmm

Interesting column in todays Telegraph...

There was also an interesting interview on Radio 4 earlier with Anne Widdicome and Christine Hamilton, during which the news broke that ND had been suspended by the whip (if you know what I mean).

Both parties named above made very valid comments, I was surprised at my own attitude to the comments made by CH, as previously I have not thought much of her at all, but today she was quite intelligent!

I think it was on the Pm programme that starts at 5pm. Worth a listen.

Suspended by the whip. Is that the same as being hoist by your own petard? confused

Ana Wed 07-Nov-12 20:01:10

Anne Widdecombe apparently said that she felt DC had overreacted by suspending Nadine Dorries and that if the public supported her he'd end up looking very silly...

Anne58 Wed 07-Nov-12 20:02:03

Merlot , I think very few of us can afford their own petard thses days!

PS I used that phrase ^ a while ago, no one present had a clue what I meant!

JessM Wed 07-Nov-12 20:09:08

C Hamilton should be applauded for doing what she did to earn money when things went pear shaped. Ditto Sarah Ferguson.
I think the 2 of them agreed that DC v silly. Someone tweeted that it was interesting that he was taking action on this when he couldnt bring himself to discipline the Whip that swore at a policeman!

Anne58 Wed 07-Nov-12 20:12:43

Jess , not so sure in the case of Sarah Ferguson, to be honest. Depends if you are talking about her children's books, affiliation to Weightwatchers or money to get an introduction to Andrew.

Has Fergie been on it? Have I missed something really funny? shock

nanaej Wed 07-Nov-12 20:19:33

Rather think this is a way for her to develop a media career! I have the impression that some MPs get into the job and it does not match their perception of what they thought it would be like!

If any public sector worker (eg teacher/nurse/etc) went off to do a month of moonlighting they would quite rightly be sacked! She undermines the democratic process and needs to be out of politics PDQ!

At least when she's somewhere in the bush eating bugs, she won't be promoting foolish ideas for changes in the law in the House of Commons. So something good has come out of this idiot woman taking part in an idiot television programme.

goldengirl Thu 08-Nov-12 13:00:54

This smacks of that Sally Bercow woman - anything to get in the public eye! Glad she's not my MP.

absentgrana Thu 08-Nov-12 13:03:00

Isn't her constituency due to go if the boundary changes come into effect? Not that I'm cynical you understand…

JessM Thu 08-Nov-12 17:55:32

Re Fergie - wasn't she terribly broke once the royals cut her loose and managed to get TV work etc to pay off her debts ?

merlotgran Thu 08-Nov-12 18:06:27

I remember the cranberry juice adverts but I don't think she'll be booking a holiday in Turkey in the near future.

Ana Thu 08-Nov-12 18:36:26

I think she was quite big in the Shopping Channel area at one time...

merlotgran Thu 08-Nov-12 19:30:15

Which might have been the reason she became an ambassador for Weight Watchers, Ana? grin

Ana Thu 08-Nov-12 19:31:38

grin

jO5 Tue 13-Nov-12 10:16:52

sick

How low can that programme, and the people who go on it, go?

Ana Tue 13-Nov-12 10:18:53

It's not a new low. They do that trial every year.

gracesmum Tue 13-Nov-12 10:21:37

And ever the politician, I understand she "lasted" 4 minutes in the creepy crawlie pit , but claimed it was 5!grin

soop Tue 13-Nov-12 13:33:11

I think that the programme should be renamed: I'm a celebrity...please keep me here! That should tidy things up nicely.

BAnanas Tue 13-Nov-12 13:57:12

You misguided lot, you could have watched The Dark Charisma of Adolf Hitler BBC2, 9 p.m yesterday instead of "Mad Nad's" encounters with creepy crawlies!!!!!

soop Tue 13-Nov-12 14:14:16

BAnanas I have never watched I'm a Celebrity ...have only seen brief excerpts that made me cringe.
Whereas the tennis final between Novak and Roger was extremely exciting.
