Has anyone just watched this wonderful documentary on BBC2? Not sure what it was actually called. It reminded me of a documentary series years back called The Zoo that was done by [I think] Molly Ringwald. I feel quite emotionally drained after watching it [but in a nice way]. I've always felt that, for all the cult of celebrity we have in this country, the really interesting people are the ones you meet at a bus stop or when you're out walking the dog. The lady who interviewed these people had just the right tone of being inquisitive about their lives but not intrusive; above all she was very sensitive and caring. It's been a long time since I saw a programme like this; the BBC used to do quite a few at one time. [The man who'd spent years looking after his dad left me an emotional wreck].

My overwhelming impression was of people with problems for whom their dogs were therapy - plus some real weirdos!! Felt for the couple who had lost their son, especially but don't think I'd walk Grace on Hampstead Heat - not with all those bodies. Very few "normal" people?

I just finished watching on Catchup. What an uplifting, quirky little program. I smiled all the way through.

SPOILER ALERT.I'm glad you saw it. I wonder if some people didn't watch because they thought it was just a programme for dog lovers? I'd quite like an update on all the people in it. Was a bit concerned about the guy with the big mastiff and the little child; a dog that size could turn in a minute. And the German Shepherd with the new baby. Think it should have been treated more like a dog until the baby arrived [says I with a dog that doesn't know how to not jump on a sofa]. The guy that was the roadie was the sort that you'd probably cross the street if you saw him walking towards you on a dark night, but what a dear man he was. Supposedly she interviewed loads and loads of people before she found that lot. Was so happy to hear that the Yorkshire couple had gone home. Keep having fantasies about being able to afford to employ someone to walk behind me with a poop scoop and bag [for the dog, I mean]The pretty lady in the hostel reminded me of that top model who started rescuing greyhounds;Celia Hammond? It's Molly Dineen I was thinking of that made the documentaries years ago.

When the retriever jumped into that muddy puddle smile. Muddy puddles were a magnet to my cocker spaniels when I had them. The whippet can't bear getting her feet wet!
